socks tossed to the wind
as I stand in the doorway
soiled laundry will have to wait
i need to hold on
to my grandson, in throws of
theatrical night terrors
Scratches all over my body,
Pouring into the glass of wine that spilled over my wound,
Counting on my fingers, the night terrors,
Scrambling to find the door where my heart belongs.
I Walk With My Paper boat
Amidst my flooded city
Rushed by the strong winds
It blew my heart away
My hands touched the flood
I swirl the dark water
It reminded me of my home
Drowned by the terrors of nature

near terrors of horror
needless fear leaving you
numb long into the dark
not knowing how it forms
night of screams and wet tears
nervous preventing sleep
nonstop causing distress
In the night of dreams
I lay suffering sleepless
My fears are at peak alert
Nightmares are present
I hate terrors that I find
Now I must mop the darkness

A world of
Hurt, I can
See it in your eyes
Nightmares
Of pain, burning
In my mind. Can
you see it
In me? The
Terrors that speak?
Can this really
Mean, that
You're dying to me?

Some have wives
Who have turned them to wives
The daily chores are theirs
In addition to paying the dues
They dare not turn them down
Else they get the treatment of a clown
They are the terrors of their lives
The ones they call their wives.
The dishes in the sink rattle loudly
The wind howling like the grey wolf
The floors creaking when no one's there
The lights begin to flicker
The shadows move about
Shivers run through me
Someone's watching
The door cracks
Haunted
Night
Giant teeth angrily ripping flesh
Maniacal laughter, internal screaming
Irregular heartbeats
Insane night terrors
Paralysis and yet…
Silent screams coming from somewhere

an silent green comes in between,
when you do cross the doorstep,
the lampost leans, creaks quiet obscene,
should i just take one more step,
or depart from terrors sheen,
of Russells 'Green Aura scene,'
i'll take not one more step,
between...

Deathly living till dying breath.
Somber dreaming a lively death.
Body ailing, self enemy.
Ever changing the remedy.
Boldly living from open womb.
Never changing, to closing tomb.
Never living a normal life.
Ever planning for daily strife.
~J.D. Cromwell
A cough then silence
Soft sniffle, deep sigh
Another night’s violence
Has passed safely bye
Oh others get kisses
Get tucked warm in bed
Not damp cardboard boxes
With night’s terrors to dread
By this he accused us
It was all that he said
As she slept clutching Teddy
In her newspaper bed
Footprints against golden grains, whirls mar reflecting ocean glass
The world moves without a breath, sunshine stroll the full green forest
The night is dark and full of terrors, will the cold soul find peace

Blow me some courage for these mysterious fears,
Whose hidden challenge lies beneath the tears.
Where once a fool dressed in a pond of terrors,
Flashed the demons onto the arrogant mirrors.
And into the closet of the silent clamor,
Leaps the light of the once known glamour.
can i follow you around
like a love sick puppy
can i show you off
all around town
will you cuddle up
when it's quiet
would you mind
if i hold you dear
but nothing really matters
because what i need
is some one there
when i lay down
and walk the would
where all humanity's
terrors run free

I'm with you, always near,
Through dark shadows, valley of death and strange nightmares,
Do not fear!
Rest in My shade
When terrors catch you unawares,
They'll fade!
Away,
hair-raising scares!
Pray!
I'm with you, always near,
When terrors catch you unawares,
Pray!
I wake up screaming, then I fall back asleep.
Before the night is over this process will repeat.
When I awake for the day I have no memory
of my previous evening's most disturbing sleep.
These aren't nightmares. They're inconceivable horrors.
I think I may be afflicted with what is known as night terrors.
In the pitch darkness of the night
Where nightmares come to fright and haunt
I lie awake my heart in flight
In the pitch darkness of the night
Praying, pleading, for morning light
When fearsome terrors cease to taunt
In the pitch darkness of the night
Where nightmares come to fright and haunt
Programing a VCR and other terrors
In the old days
I used to dread
the chore
of programing my VCR
just never got the hang
of doing that
the VCR sat there
taunting me
begging me
to do it
to her
but I just never could
learn how to program
that damn machine

Other people’s nightmares and night terrors do not interest me
Or persuade, coax or encourage me to have my own.
I refuse to acknowledge their existence.
Others tell me cryptic tales, sharing morbid woes.
I slumber as peacefully as a newborn colt
Dreaming of the good life
A bobcat’s scream changes me forever
Heaven quakes as death draws near
As Halloween bring back its fright,
Lifting the veil where demons spawn
Lets Hell free to rape this night.
Occult terrors from the pit
Who wear the devil’s mark
Eagerly their victims seek
Enveloped by the dark.
No hope, nor faith, nor charity can stop this damned insanity!

Dear sweet child,
So full of anger and remorse,
Terrors running wild,
Be weary of this troubled course,
An eye for an eye,
Seems understandably justified,
A comforting lie,
When you live every day terrified,
Embrace your heart,
Break those cold rusty chains,
Time to make a new start,
And cherish the warmth that remains.
Dither and don't
Wither and won't
Slither away
Pawns dismay
Carols sung on Easter morning
Blasting the cold away
Rustic pieces found daunting
Carries night into day
Won't open the terror door
It seems to squeak a little
You hate but wanting more
Easy with cork in bottle
Errors made
Terrors hated
Rumors abated
Time slated

I love an antique tale
Where noble swordsmen never fail
To rescue ladies fair
Or brave the dragon’s lair.
The creaking castle door—
The hidden stairway in the floor—
They each enchantingly
Excite and shudder me.
Romantic terrors thus combine
With Beauty. Old, old wine
Of witchery and wondrous dread
A Gothic castle in my head.
