Tossed At Sea

Seamen of HMS Dribble
Take Sundays off just to quibble
They all enjoy
The Cabin boy
But which of them gets "First Nibble"?

Typical

On Sundays I go to the bank
So I can fill up my gas tank
I dislike refueling
When Putin is drooling
But I'm just a typical Yank

Beyond

*** (beyond)
Sundays
in rains
forgotten odor
and those ingrown dreams
about
her arm

Sundays in rains

like a farewell
beyond

God Knows the Score

Our vicar says the NFL
Is leading young men straight to Hell
On Sundays they play
When they ought to pray
Since God knows the score very well

Lamb Tanka

Lambs gambolling free
Oblivious to their role
Feeding and clothing
But today they are playful
Tails a bobbing as they run
Roast Lamb on Sundays menu

Form: Tanka

Bloody Sundays

A ghoul on a stool made him drool
So the vampire skipped Sunday School
The B-positive queue
Was too long to pursue
At the Blood Bank in Liverpool!

Naughty Pam

There once was a woman named Pam
Who entertained men with her cam
She'd pose in her undies
On Thursdays and Sundays
And used up her excess of RAM..

Sun is always at desk in summer
Working till dusk to become sunny days
Sundays on it’s way to go busy
Sons to take a Sun bath after a cooling winter

Their Leek Is Dragon

On Sundays, Welsh wives go to chapel
Each one of them ready to grappel
Not for an hymn book
Nor Minister's look
They just want a bite of Eve's apple!

Lucy Furr's Sunday

On Sundays, the preachers will preach
And Sunday School Teachers will teach
If that does not grate
The Collection Plate
Will tempt everyone to the beach!

Rainy Days and Sundays

i want to
kick the
bucket

so much
so that
i spill

the water
within
then

the
worms
can swim

oops
the robin
in the corner

says
thanks
so much

Just Another Day

I painted a smile on my face

It required the right temperament

I do wear it out on Sundays

And when the evening stars bring twilight

My smile retires for the night

Misspent Sundays

Heaven is falling through the blackest gaps in the sky,
Tumbling through this ceiling we created
And lodging, like seeds in earth,
In mind half-mad from
Misspent Sundays.

Sundays Supper

The fresh baked bread was served with every meal
Grandma's true secrets were never revealed
Eggplant lasagna
With hand rolled pasta
Herbs and tomatoes, she grew in the field

Scenarios of Barrios

Scenarios of Barrios

What we all saw were many scenarios,
Of urban poor areas known as barrios;
A pitiful sight,
Day and night;
Each one on Sundays to church goes.

Work schedules

I remember back in the day when everything was closed on Sundays and you could take a leisurely Sunday drive with your parents and not have to worry about being anywhere at any certain time

1950s Luncheonette Counter

noisy luncheonette
1950’s fast food
men in suits and ties

women in cotton dresses
wearing high heeled shoes
none unchaperoned

counter closed on Sundays
family day
everyone in church

I Want To See You

I would transfer just to see you
You would be the highlight of the day!
Your smile makes my Sundays all better
You're my high school rival
But I love you and I will always love you
I want to see you today!

Going Steady

He wants a steady mistress,
steady on her legs,
steadily available on rainy Sundays,
or at four in the morning.
A wise, long-suffering wife
to someone else.
He wishes his own wife
understood the meaning of
‘steady’.

The C Word

.

       Copper tone tan
   that contemptible soul

    not even my cutlass
her knowing its quickness
       to make cutlets
   cured her cravings for
       me to complete
      counting sundays

not open today

Sign no restaurant door says
Not open today
No one showed up
We have seen this sign on this restaurant four Sundays in a row.
Interesting that people who have jobs simply do not show up.
This did not happen before the pandemic.

So Many Sundays To Come

I
I am
So embarrassed
To put this out here
Shame on me shame on me
X a zillion times
I always say there are so
Many Sundays to come
So I've been walking around
Like a chemically injected chicken
Looking fat but with nothing inside
