"As I lay dying..."

Speak to me though I can no longer reply
As the life that was me does not comply
At once; for after the flame falters
The wick glows before it smolders....

Though I am no longer he who chased stars
There is much I kept for you in my memoirs.
Ask of them now even as the flame falters
For the ember brightens before it smolders....

Eternal Spark
Buried in the ashes

Human effort smolders
but embers await
Tomorrow today
today gone forever
Forever rekindled

Premium Member Nd Smolders While He Paints An Egg
Easter Sunday
a cathedral smolders,
people are crushed and weeping.
While a painted egg sits in his hand,
he's blissfully unaware.
The only thing that exists are three white eggs.
A rainbow of colors on his tiny fingertips....

The distance between our eyes
is an unmeasurable treasure
Where background worlds disappear
and our souls reach out to be tethered
to the mast of our heart
as the stillness of time
smolders in the dewy mist of our yearning
bonding us to the calm need of surrender

Orange flames,
Hot pink sizzles,
Pierce scarlet hued skies

Twilight horizon burns
Smolders in burnished

Two-Roads
Desperate choices
  and dead end roads

One sign pointing left
  the other right

Each choice a trap
  where vision smolders

Each choice a trap
  its decision charred

Two roads on fire
   the truth igniting

Two roads on fire
  —where freedom burns

Frisky kitty is in fresh, velvety flowers,
Dancing all the honeyed bloom hours.
As song drifts from the secret bowers,
Lacy clouds waft and the sun smolders.

Kitty courses in color and sweet odors,
The spell of youth has strange powers,
In greener days that happiness towers,
Until sun grows mellower and mellower....

Her red dress
Pressed
To that beautiful black skin,
She looks like a forest fire
Racing up a mountain top

Burning up

She cannot stop
Her wild curves
Engulfed in flames.

She smolders
In a corner
Of the ballroom,

My eyes,
Like two emptied water glasses
On a tray,

Gliding by
On the shoulder
Of a much younger waiter....

Lite My Pyre
If you wanted my beating heart
You should’ve treated it right from the start

Yet you set me on fire
cause you hate yourself
Watched my burning pyre
As you berate yourself

Now my carcass smolders
In the ashes of
What sickens me to call our love

It gives me glee to see
It blow away in the wind
As if it was never there to begin
And at last I am free again...

Smoked Dawn
Night after Days and Days after Nights
Romancing the Wish,
Your angel touch will soothe my skin

But the Moon and Clouds and Stormy Sun
They bring in Lust and Fear
And it never happens, I never win

Wake in the morning with a withering hope
Rise out of bed
What faces of yours will I see today?

Tomorrow, the potential smolders
Smokes all the words,
And I am left alone with nothing to say...

Let Not Your Fires Die
Is there a flame within your heart?
Or, have your fires become dormant
By the unbearable weight of suppression?
Has your will adjusted to the size of your flame?

Rekindle all fires, from a dormant flame
Awaken it! From one that smolders,
Reenergize and reanimate!
Let not other people’s fires control
And be the reason yours die out.
Let yours burn on as an eternal flame,
Moving you on into the success of all tomorrows....

Absurd Beauty
Anyone can find the absurdity in life,
But only the strong can make it their wife.
Nay, not the strong in the arm or the shoulder,
Nor the behomoths who love lifting boulders,
I mean the sort who's heart always smolders,
A fiery love, of every day older.
One so much smarter than everyone knows,
One who thinks harder than they'd ever show.
I think that's just what afflicts us the most;
We're so much smarter than we even know....

The Fire
The pain in my heart
feels like a burning fire
Burning on & on forever.
As I burn slowly
I feel every part of it.
And as I forgive him again
the fire grows hotter
It burns Longer
So the pain stays
Will I learn?
Yes.
Because I'm done forgiving.
I'm done trusting.
All together I'm done.
In my heart,
the fire burns out.
But it still smolders.
SO forever I will remember
there one was a fire.
And I will always know
how bad it hurt....

Feelings
Spiraling, scorching, sweltering,
The anger pierces my soul
Burns, smolders, boils
Flames into rage; raw, intense
Then fades into despair
Helplessness, powerlessness
Seeping in, reeking of
Prejudice, injustice, hatefullness.
What can I do to stop
The slithering obsidian snake
Of hatred creeping into the very core of me?

I can forgive, pardon the ones
Attempting to extinguish my spark.
I can remember that their animosity
In the end, will destroy them,
Not me....
