Poeta en Nueva York

Federico Garcia Lorca
was a would-be New Yorker:
his favourite ski event was the slalom,
and he wrote poems about Harlem.

Once You Find What You Are Meant To Be, Trying To Get There Will Make You Happy

Slalom, serpentine or straight
Your course need only approach your goal
Although important is the rate
To a noble bourne, it is not the soul
Form: Rhyme

Premium Member Flurries

The day is dawning with a prediction of flurries Nay nay I say, it's too early, I'm getting damn worried The leaves haven't fallen Not time for a slalom It'll be here soon enough, it don't need to get hurried

The lambition of the slalom she deserves
To follow the flower’s supple curves
(There must be digital swerves)
And the linguation until sensation

Follow the Levant, Aqaba and Red Sea’s
Coastline, tantalize and tease
The gustation of the in between, a quivering release
Over and over and over again

Premium Member Gone With Gale

Snowy week whitening the slalom slope
Keenly waited for the sleek ski to grope
Inspired by maddening sense of sliding speed
I raced, found my frosted feet suddenly freed
Nailed in snow they couldn’t track the ski’s trail
Gone soaring with the glacial gale into the dale.

Resurfacing

Raised Iron works
thrust out of the blacktop.
Women-hole covers
appear; the tip of the spear
above new drilled silos.

Rubber slugs concrete.
Debora steers her way
through a slalom of
gender specific movements.

The road bucks under
her taught belly,
while fingers push
a wheel through
a video game maze.

Long laboring feminists
under hard hats
are digging her,
so she just smiles -
tries to relax.

Premium Member River

Heart throbbing, euphoric,
like a giant slalom skier
the river gushes down
winding its reckless way
round obstacles and blind corners
unawed by imposing mountains
till it finally comes to the end
of its dizzy, breathless run
where the shimmering ocean waits
with eager yet patient anticipation.
