Soul Sitter
In lightness
sight is easy
In darkness
impossible

There’s a place
in between

I kept knocking
until
A little voice
Whispered

Excuse me
the soul sitters
not at home...

The PC Rules state
that….

If I say something
that you find offensive
I have to stop
saying it.

Therefore,
it would follow
that…

If I take offense
to your taking offense
you must stop
taking offense
because I took offense
to your taking offense.

Paintings Aspected Within Architecture.
Leonardo's influences realism.
Paintings within the grandest
architecture demands the most
perfect delicate realism.

Their essence swathed in luxurious
fabrics,rich in warm wood,woven in
the finest tapestries gleams
of the shiniest metals + jewels.

Sitters command respect with their
permanent presence.
All paintings are elaborately framed
exuding an air of reverence....

Ponderings

The Geese were milling around
honking incessantly
asking for directions
the swans paced
regal egg sitters
awaiting their shift
the beaver gritted his teeth
soft wood
hard winter
the river sighed
cold water
edged with ice
spring sun
challenged
the grip of winter
log sitting turtles
cheered it on
the osprey eyed
his do it yourself nest
a distant woodpecker
plays
taps at sunset

Valentines Confusion
I never quite know how to feel.
It used to mark a day of sweets
A day of cards and laughter.
At 10, my views were changed.
The phone call came
And even though it was a blizzard,
We were left at the sitters.
Hours went by.
They picked us up at midnight.
I knew something was wrong.
My father kissed my forehead,
Something he had never done.
It's hard to be happy on Valentines Day,
But I try to find comfort knowing
You left us,
To be with your Valentine...

Chicken Pot Pie
The man sat in his wheelchair;
His aide was on the phone,
Behavior to which aides and sitters
Oftentimes are prone.

“You’re hungry?” She hung up and said;
The question I’d not heard.
“But you had lunch!” and yet
His urge for food was undeterred.

“Remember? At the Mansion?
Chicken pot pie was your meal,
With lentil soup, then ice cream.”
(Likely as a mid-day deal.)

It wasn’t even 2 o’clock
Yet still, they headed back,
Abandoning the river
For an after-lunchtime snack....
