If a Kid

If a kid like me
Can write poems for you to see
When other people don’t care what I can be
A poet like you read
Right now
Then I hope you can right a poem for me
Because a kid
Wants the feed

Blood and Victory

I think i`ll draw a picture, I`ll draw it with a twist, I`ll draw it with a razor,
I`ll draw it down my wrist. If I do it right, a red puddle will appear, and in that
red puddle all my worries will dissapear.

6 Am Practice

“LISTEN CAREFULLY.”
quietly, softly.

a ball bounces:
one two
one two
one two

eyelashes touch, mouths part
hear the gasps and pants

to the left a girl breaks her nail,
to the right a dancer unpoints her toe.

awful,
“AGAIN”

A Major Heat Advisory

There's a heat advisory in the frozen north Must take precautions as we go forth Need to hunker down Or in sweat we will drown Dangerous times as the temperature soars © Jack Ellison 2015
Yes you heard right... a heat advisory in the frozen north!!!

What Is Real

Look, to your left a pot of gold, this is not real.

Well, look to your right a pot of silver, this is not real also.

Then, look down money all around, this is not real.

On the other hand, Look! Look! Up at the sky Christ lives, now this is what is really real.

God Bless

That flame

I dream of opportunities of valor
Hope i can right a wrong
Plan to stand against tides of injustice
Count on myself to sing victory's song

I only can watch in impudence
And know the darkness is to great
But if i fan the smallest flickering flame of love
I can at least warm my present state

Peace Now

Peace is what there needs to be
No more wars, guns or fights we’ll see
How many lost and lonely souls
Or death dealt with destruction as a goal

Fight for the right a slogan made
Definable and needed for this escapade
Is that a slogan or a price to cherish
If we march to our future we may yet perish.

Set Free

Men with moral fiber filled their cups.
To celebrate that night’s success.
Through darkness to the palace,
bold stallions had galloped,
to make right a wrong.
Reunited,
Robinhood
was set
free.

The Wall

I guess, again, that I have been lured,
Maybe Trump is right, a wall there must be.
But I won't be charging Mexico for it,
A female 'game player'?, my heart not cured.

How can someone be as warm as summer,
The next, as cold as the falling snow.
A devious woman, or just unstable?,
Either way, it's a complete bummer.

The Lark

Singing so sweetly the lark spread its’ tune
Amidst the foggy morning it’s lover did swoon
Natures’ dance of remarkable love
Took place before me in the skies above
Two little chirps a skip right a jump left
Full fledged flip whistles puffed out chest
And I in my chair in awe of this show
Smiling widely so pleased and aglow.

Biggest Mistake

Its hard to right
a biggest mistake
when i only make
little one’s alot
that nobody not even me
can all of them spot
or maybe not?
Its hard to write
a wrong
when so many people
watch
or right a poem
with so many mistakes
to blot
or erase
my biggest mistake
not knowing little ones
mean alot.

Mine Essence

Here you are with I, and I with you, a perfect combination, a life
that is eternal by our love, a love that feels right, a love that is
real, where my sights embrace thine essence, an essence so
gentle to mine, to caress your soul with my lips to sustain your
love for I as I to you, to show you as much as I can how you
make me feel everytime we are together my love.

Misery Loves Comedy

I guess weird is wonderful, eh,
Let's place the fair in welfare today,
Yeah, right, a quest for all our pollies,
Myriad challenges for equity,
True, misery loves comedy,
Someone writes their political scripts,
Listening to Parliament gives me the blip,
Best to off turn the switch,
Pray for a Lazarus economy,
Yes, misery loves comedy....
But, really not that funny!

Justice

Justice calls us
--to be fair in our dealings,
          --to heal,
             --to do no harm,
Justice demands we live
             --by the Golden Rule
--treating others as we would be treated,
Justice says we go
--beyond the law to right a wrong.
Justice is our incentive
--to see all people treated the same.

Love Has Found Me

In the arms of the one who love me just as I am and can see past my outer looks the description of all my dreams; I feel as if I am in not awake, pinch me to make sure I am not in this dream world. Inexpressable feelings I can't all describe at one time but it makes me feel so good;a lifetime I've been waiting on this to finally be true and... everything seems so right, a love letter to the man of my life.

You Have Forgotten

Return to a place where you belong
It hasn't changed, It's still waiting
Stalled in time till' you arrive
To the right a senseless wrong
Here you will find the laughter you have lost
The missing piece of a broken heart
Chipped away, without a thought
Of a terrible cost,
Come back to the one who's strong
I have not changed I'm waiting
Stalled in time till' you arrive
To thaw my frozen song.

Choices

Do we read newspapers
Or ignore the world?
Do we vote
Or do we complain?
Do we ask questions of elected officials
Or are we complacent?
Do we right a wrong
Or remain silent?
Do we stay
Or do we go?
Do we sing
Or do we dance?
Do we run or
Do we walk?
Do we study
Or do we wing it?
Do we listen or
Do we yell?
Are our stomachs firm or flabby?
Are we smart
Or are we stupid?
Do we even care?

A Covid Poem

You’re right: A COVID poem
You’re right
I’m right
We agree
We talked it over and realized
That we were putting each other at risk
So we decide
Together
Maturely
On the phone
We cannot meet each other in these times
We cannot touch each other in these times
It puts both of us at risk
What if I infected you?
No
What if you infected me?
No
So we talked it over
We agreed
I’m right
You’re right

No Words

There is no one word that could sum up how deeply in love with you I am. So I'm going to attempt to right a poem, because you know how much of a dork I am. My love for you goes so deep, you make me shake, you make me weep. All over my body there are chills, like a cold winter in the hills. Someone that's so special to me. I could never let go even if it means falling to my knees. I know we fight, but that don't mean give up and flee.

The Beauty of Silence Learned Over and Over

No one understands the beauty of being silent more than I.
I have learned the lesson so many times.
Over and over and over.
And yet, here I am,
Fuming mad.
The little angry
Dude inside
Screaming for
Me to Right a
Wrong; not
My business
As usual.

Injustice will
Be the Death
Of me. Or at
Least the death
Of some of
My Opportunities.
I am
Ready
To Scream
The Truth,
Maiming
Myself
With
My
Mouth
For the
Zillionth Time….

Fool

The pound you owe is due

I've come to take it now

You screwed it up you fool

You thought you'd getaway?

Your life is nothing but living, breathing and eating pain

You screwed it up you fool

She's gone so far away

This bullet will do for you

Look into your killers eyes

That's right, a calmness lies

No fear for what resides?

Just fear to breathe your lies

Stare deep into the eyes of the reflection of you

Fool

A Kiss

A kiss can be for good or bad
It’s known to drive a person mad.
When Judas betrayed his savior
For thirty pieces of silver
He singled Christ out so to speak
By planting a kiss on his cheek.
Then of course there’s Pygmalion
Who fell in love with what he hewn
Galatea so cold and white
He kissed her lips and brought to life.
Sometimes we kiss to right a wrong
Sometimes it’s mentioned in a song
But after all a kiss a kiss
Expressed in fourteen rhymed verses.
