Equinox Hibernation

Hear the weather
upon the roof,
Winter is a'coming:
As landscapes
drowse
Autumn arrives
on the wind:
Wardrobes are
ransacked,
thermostats
turn red-
so earlier to bed

BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED

As time shortens
The aisles fill
Hollow-eyed scavengers
Prowling ransacked shelves
The challenge
Of the “tic-toc” clock
Santa will get the credit
They will get the debit
As they sit deluded
Batteries not included

Trust Ransacked

Brazen acts, once under cover of night
trust now ransacked in broad daylight

  Rape, armed robbery, carjackings
released from murky lairs on alien wings

Our beliefs torn asunder, the world upside down
no foot traffic seen in our part of town

Faith

The pace of belief,
Just tapped
whenever,
Counsels towards
focus,
But from the heart's
rut.

Lived over the
hills,
Now in the lamb's
court,
Justice to write
home about,
And no more
upstates.

Holds firm -
ransacked,
Canon of salvation,
And pasture of the
word,
That is why God
exists...

Animal Real Estate

The fallen nest of life
whose straw lay strewn,
holds no bidders.

The ransacked burrow
...caved in,
holds no retail value.

The marsh land paved,
still resonates
through your cup of tea.

Twas their last plea;
which you ignored.

Real estate is only profitable
when built by people.

...But animal real estate
holds more value.

The Red and the Black

Tonight, my skin is a checkerboard
across which your fingers trod.
My eyes are the ransacked cities;
my arms the passageway to escape.
Your hands claim my ribs, my neck.
Your hands rest on my cheeks
sprouting full-formed wheat stalks.
I am the sea, formless and uneasy.
You are the ploughed land, stable and course.
Your calloused hands are tendrils of smoke
hovering in this watchful darkness.

Hit By Illness

Illness, like a stealthy thief,
snuck up on me, knocked me flat,
and ransacked my interior,

Taking things I didn’t know
were missing until I
got back up again.

Gone was the mask
of illusion that shielded
me from my mortality.

Bare were the walls
that kept sorrow
hidden for years.

Robbed of certainty
and confidence in
my own capabilities,

I stood vulnerable
in the uncluttered space
of my life -

and found poetry.

Quarantine

Q- Quit all the hangouts , parties, you desperately want
U- Underground you remain, or in the hospital you might be found
A- A virus has attacked
R- Rich economy, now remains ransacked
A-Attested , that million died
N-New normal has been defined
T-Take your position at an arms length or you might be fined
I-Injunctions are many to be followed , in order to get a better tomorrow
N-Nevertheless , there is nothing to worry about
E-Equanimity, is all you need to care about

Remarks That Blows Invite

That was A Nasty from you,
The Coarsest from a shrew;
Men who’d ignore it few
To over it lengthily chew …

Your Upper Lip I might’ve attacked
And The Lower just swollen,
As through you’d my pockets ransacked
And my valuables stolen ...

Your utterances you’d made
To, perhaps, lower my grade
Their message, that of The Afraid
That my fame will never fade:
Gibbers which Fury frees
And would a victim freeze,
Their source foolishly excite,
Because vengeful blows invite.

graduating from room 101

i once stood
within my own shipwreck
blaming cruel seas

years past
flotsam and jetsam
built a driftwood home

when storms came
that ramshackle shelter
self-destructed
while i
cursed foul weather

looking outward
never seeking inward
i decried a faithless fate

unt
a blinding truth
ransacked
an unseeing mind

simply that

I ALONE
am the author
of my own life-long
melodrama

none other than me
bore this responsibility

of such a tangled

tragicomedy

Bookshop Osmosis

The glossy acrylic smell of new editions
is cordite to my nose,
an explosive mixture of - need to know.
I finger trawl over dust covers
mindreading unread masterpieces.

Movies ransacked many of these novels,
hearsay and word of mouth
account for aisles
of open secrets and
commonly revealed revelations.

I should obtain a dozen or so acclaimed sagas,
display them on a prominent shelf –
because, well, one really ought to,

or maybe just read last chapters,
if not too long.
