Horse Racing 100th Poem
Have you been to a race with a horse?
There are many who like them, of course.
Who wins? We don’t know.
We can win, place, or show.
Any nearby racetrack is the source....

Reap Bad Deeds
As ye sow, you get the maybe corn, and reap, the stinking uncooked prawn, cos ye n me are slack .... ones deed comes up to speed , like car on the racing track, it comes around yes indeed, next time it gives you a smack, karma on the racetrack steed, a hurting memory Jack, why the silly bludger always bleeds, elementary, it talks back.... Premium Member Blurred Frenzy
the minutes
the hours
the days
in wild frenzy
whistle by

before long
weeks turn
to months
to years

on the racetrack
life in a blur
careens at
headpopping speed
i can barely hang on

yet
every once
in a while
it pauses
for a rare
precious moment

i take a deep breath
and thank god
you’re still here
by my side

Our Town's Oval
Years have long dashed and sprinted
Round and round our town's old oval
Now abandoned, gone under to grass
An eerie site even for the bravest local

Some say on drizzle-darkened nights
The racetrack does visibly tremble
With cheers and raucous jubilations
Races fought by the fast and the nimble

Screams surge from a non-existent crowd
Echo distant yet distinct in the mind
Of one who has long been absent
From a neighborhood left so far behind.

The Racetrack
The Racetrack

   A momentous and thrilling place
   where people lose their pace
looking through the columns of the racing form.

  They seem to be cheerful
when they hear of their horse name Fearful
  getting into position with Takeoff.

The time has come and the bell has rung
and off with a speeding start
around on the first lap and straight for home
The people are shouting for Fearful to come home!
