Against God and Adam, Eve had a peeve
Before their sin, she'd nothing up her sleeve
   They both took a hit
   But Eve threw a fit
Adam's cloth was from the same weave as Eve's...

A gnat did fly up my nose,
on purpose, I must suppose.
He set off a pet peeve,
as his wings made me sneeze,
I did pee into my clothes.

Not Always Feeling It
by Wayne Wysocki

I don't mean to anger or jar you,
But you've hit on a pet peeve of mine;
To answer your question, "How are you?",
I'm required to say, "I'm just fine"....

Premium Member In Line for the Bathroom
Fido took time watering the large tree
Forced to stand in line at dog park to pee
Fidgeting they can't hold it
Fearing to move they all sit
A pet peeve, with bladder concern; knock-knee

Crossing the Pet-Peeve Line
anal-retentive
stick up the ass
over-reactive
over-dramatization
over seemly unimportant
irrelevant issues seemed to
always be the response to
crossing over the pet-peeve line
that had been created over time...

The Yakker
I know he doesn't mean it. But dang can he yak. When I try to watch a movie,
I have to keep rewinding it back. I try to listen to his jabber. But I have my mind on that tv. My Husband talking when I try to watch a movie is my biggest pet peeve....

My one and only pet peeve with this Soup of Poetry
is when I post a poem and must choose a category
but none of the categories listed applies to my poem or me.
I'll categorize this one under "Family"
since "Self" is not one of Poetry Soup's categories....

Preacher's Pet Peeve
There was a man whose name was Mr Loud,
he preached humility with his head bowed,
He was quite the preacher,
with a unique feature,
He was so humble that it made him proud!

inspired by Carolyn Devonshire's poem "Impounding Ego"
Thanks Carolyn!...

Conceived Faculty
conceived faculty
surreal improbable
image of perfection
created within a land
of fantasy
placed you
up atop a
high pedestal
were you would
loom over
the land irrational

casting down
the lay of the

condemning
all that were
quilty of breaking

Count Dracula’s Love

Count Dracula’s love is blood—sweet and bright red,
And he wants to bite your neck while you’re in bed!
Seeking his next eternal bride on this All Hallows’ Eve,
His “undead” bite makes him happy and isn’t a pet peeve!

Ode To a Snail
Slug or Snail
Slow you trail
The slimy path you leave
upon bark or rail
or along my pail
Glue from your tail?
Ah bind my mail?
Be my pet not pet peeve
Don't crawl up my sleeve.
Go mark some leaves.
Don't glue my nail!
How do I guess your emotions?
You never smile or wail
To thy Creator
I whisper, all hail...

Premium Member My Pet Peeve Is Selfish Greed
my pet peeve is
selfishness
taking it all
not sharing
hoarding
being greedy
squirreling it away
in a mean way
letting it rot
not caring
that others don not have
Not caring that many
starved or went without
because your goal
was to have more than enough
for yourself
so now you gloat
you have won
But have you?...

What version do you believe?
The story morphs with each phone ring;
Rumors are my biggest pet peeve;
Have you decided who the villain is yet?
Be skeptical of the intel you receive
it could have no basis in truth;
Misinformation is hard to conceive
desperate to trust what you’re hearing;
Sloppy mouths with dirt up their sleeve....

It was a beautiful summers eve
And we shared a kiss I couldn't believe
I thought you would never leave
You had a dark agenda up your sleeve
Or maybe I was just so darn naive
You had no real reason to deceive
By doing so, what did you achieve
Falling in love is my biggest pet peeve
Now when summer comes I just grieve

Spot
Survival of the fittest –
Practically, trying my best…
Owning an applaud for future successes in excess – a failure I don’t detest
Terribly trying to pass this difficult test…apparently, I don’t give a shit! You’re a pet peeve, but grieve not – you’re a little pest in one spot and I’ll leave you with all the rest…rooted to the spot suddenly…embarrassed abruptly…...

The Peeve Chamber (Pt. 2)
Yes, it was love, and life, and happiness,
That's the aura, to this day...
There were even T-shirts made,
To honor it, and all it meant...
Torn down for cheaply made condos...
It lives on in me forever-
And, I'm sure, in many, many others
In heart, never to be destroyed,
Come what did, or may,
Yes, it lives on forever...
And I prefer it much that way,
And for now,
That's all I've got to say!...

ghoulish gray ghosts gather in Galloway Gallows
girls scouts come by with Hersheys and marshmallows
goblins and ghouls stand around in the moors
hoping one of them will drop their tasty Smores

wily wild Wisconsin witches whisk by on Brookside brooms
tormenting the others, flying in and out of the rooms
we normals are quick to make excuses and leave
purple purebred puritans provide plenty of peeve...

Litter Bugs
'Litter bugs'

Why are we such a messy nation?
When blessed with such great sanitation
The litter bugs make my blood boil
When I see street cleaners toil
So of your taxes please don't moan
Would you litter like this in your home?

Please next time you spit out your gum
Think would you like it stuck to your bum?
Coz my other pet peeve
Is shoes up on seats
And here endeth my morning greet

House
A house no more
Save on the distant shore
Of my memory

Cracked window,
Drafty, makes me daffy
"Peeve Room" joys,
Music through the night
Friends and lovers,
Made me warm
Till morning's light

Haunting memories
Of the bumper-car ride of life,
Friends and lovers gone,
And too many an ex-wife,

I can still see out
That cracked window,
That is no more,
Those rooms will die with me,
That home that I did adore....

Pet Peeve
Last night, I dreamt I was a parrot.
I spent my days in a cage and my nights in a rage
And all I could ever say was what I’d been told.

Every few weeks, when there was company,
and the doors and windows were surely locked
The man would let me out

And I’d fly into the kitchen cabinets and those hard-to-reach places,
and sing the words he’d never been proud of

Until I was in his grasp
and in my cage again.

What a nightmare....

Its
“It’s” with an apostrophe
Means "it is" – all the time!
Using it another way
Is quite a grammar crime.

Whenever I encounter writing
With a misused “it’s,”
My pressure passes by its boiling point
Before it quits.

“Should of,” “would of,” could of”
Are annoying, to be sure;
And for “there,” “their,” “they’re” confusion
No one seems to have a cure.

But the most frustrating writing error
Is, I do believe,
Using “it’s” instead of “its” –
It’s my number one pet peeve!...
