Spent Passion

I sit in bed trying to read
He is pawing me hoping for sex
Which I do not want.
I a too old
Why can't he feel the same?
We have done all that
I would rather stroke the cat.

Spin Doctor

Spin Doctor

A crusty old spinster sat stitching
while scratching the parts that were itching
oohing and ahhing
picking and pawing
at least for the moment stopped bitching.

During Sermon No One Seemed Inspired

During Sermon No One Seemed Inspired

During sermon no one seemed inspired,
Were almost sleeping while being tired;
Hemming and hawing;
Pawing and clawing,
And up congregation finally was fired.

How the Deputy Got Sunder Loaded

Four hooves at the ready
one-eyed tall snorting
he one chewed cigar puffing
left on the rope
right wrapped round horse ear
eye to eye staring down
the trailer at once prize and prison
pawing the air no more
carried by an ear into darkness
Old Smoky the victor again
Sunder was loaded.

Felines

A pair of reposing
Arabian princes,
She calls Vladimir
And retarded Cat,

Are purring and pawing
In the soft domain
of her loving lap...

A distant admirer
Pets his intrigue,
A half eaten heart
Surrenders and dreams.

Oh felines of feeling
Closeness is surely
Better than cream...

Stalker Remix

He stands at her window,
eager to look in, though
he feels like a creep.

He felt this self loathing
pawing through her clothing.
Still, he wants to peep.

Squinting through the shutters,
heatedly, he mutters
to her in her sleep.

Frenzied in his rant he's
nuzzling the panties
he made sure to keep.

Wooly Surfer

riding the shoulder, standing
right with the movement
is my boy lil Wooly Dog
surfing waves on the rocking chair

coming in from the back
he holds his paws in place
as if pawing into the whitewash
getting ready to settle in

then barreling into the blanket
where it is cool and calm
with a nice breeze blowing over
he closes his eyes for a nap

My dogs were maniacs today

my dogs were maniacs today
they had not seen me since Wednesday afternoon
It is Sunday morning
the little one’s claws dug into the inside of my left arm
he did not mean to hurt me
but he could not stop pawing me
with those long sharp claws
he was thrilled to see his mama
the older dog was crying, he does that when he is happy
It was good to be home

Windows

Windows mask the loneliness of youth
gazing through a misted pane of glass
pawing at the wonder of escape
momentary cell mates face to face.

Windows mock the cold of autumn winds
cold dew that drips along the hoarfrost edge
smiley faces drawn on hazy view
a sunbeam aura slowly breaking through.

Christmas Colt Meets Kittens

Christmas colt felt pawing at his feet
I am being patted down he told his mama.
She said, “Those are kittens, aren’t they sweet?”
Not when they get older, said a knowing llama.

Christmas colt thought they were adorable, fun too.
He shook out his foot and he said, “hello you!”
The kittens were excited, they played around his feet.
He agreed with his mama that kitties are pretty sweet.

Letting the Stars In

I let the stars in through the back door.
They shuffle on padded feet, fill up
the half dark house with their noise.

Things come to their balance
in this vast, awkward place.

How will we know it years from now,
the unimagined, imagined? We wait.

Still the stars are restless
in the kitchen, jingling their collars,
pawing the rug for the right feel.

A comfortable place is all they ask.
So do we.

Little Miss Clingy

My Little Miss does not do 'aloof'
One kitty dash as I sit, and poof!
Lap kneading, too greedy
Head butting, so needy
I declare love, but she demands proof-

No Sunday sleep-ins will she allow
Every 6 a.m. is time for chow!
Pawing, purring alarm
Furry butt on my arm
No snooze button shuts off her meow-

Sunrise Shivers

Sunrise shivers
slowly streaking
frozen fields
grasses huddled
against icy winds.

Silent sparrows
hunker down
awaiting the angst
of an unfocused
feeble warmth.

A cat scratches
timidly
at the door
pawing
a cold draft.

Somewhere
that pesky grey squirrel
slumbers
cradled
in its fluffy tail.

Softly
a reluctant sun
tints
hoar frost hard edges
with golden
promise.

A Cat's Midwife

Knuckles deep in a cat.
The spongy flesh pulses around my fingers
Each time I move inside.

Her stomach undulates
As if it was alive.
Wait-- it is.
I am trembling.

Her pained meows
Offset by the mewlings
Heard from within her.

The first head pokes out,
Slick and red
Staining the scratchy towel underneath.
Then more, four in all,
Pawing clueless about on the reddened fabric.
Their eyes still shut, yet they see the world.

Song of Myself

Flexing, the leaves, like iron
Tortured by constant upheaval
Grasping at the edge with
Fading will and wanting strength
Stubbornness, a pawing bull
In the brunt of swirling
Winds brought from beyond
The future horizon shining
In expanding glory
Watching as the leaves
Remain like iron.
Purely by desire, they remain
Like a bubbling river pressured
Above its banks without letting go.
No law contains unruliness as
The leaves, flexing, like iron,
Remain.
