Shtick

while walking
seeing before me
a rock sticking out
of the ground suddenly

i stumbled
on to something
that blew my mind
as if the sky wasn't blue

enough

Forgotten

When you hold on to something a long time you forget what you are holding.

When you see something too long you forget that it's there.

When you hear words to long you forget what they mean.

Just like how you have forgotten me.

Why

Why am I holding on to something that's gone.....
Why does my heart still aches for you...
Why does my sunshine rest in your smile
Why when I see you I feel like I can run a mile....
I get it I know....
I'm still in love...

Premium Member Someone Stole Our Best Hound

Someone stole our best hound, he told me.
He is eight, and angry about it in a curious way.
Maybe he ran away, I suggested. Maybe no one stole him.
They did too! He argues.
How do you know?
He came home dragging the dog house they chained him to.
He might be on to something after all.

Dead Man Walking

A dead man walking;
mind black, soul dark, he’s always on to something.
He was never loved,
neither cared for, nor given any attention.
He had no fear, because he had no one dear.
It all seemed clear to me it all seemed so unfair.
A dead man walking,
mood blue, so true, he never had anything…

Premium Member Proof He Had Existed

Black silhouette
One of the reminders that her child had existed
He cut it out himself after his friend drew it
She admired the imperfections of the cut.
Loved remembering how quickly Jackson had to do everything
Not caring if it was perfect, as long as it was done
So he could move on to something new

Chains

Holding on to something already gone
despite knowing right from wrong
still holding on
you're afraid of being alone
living a lie
afraid of change
Never will things be the same
can't break these chains
love is dead within me
so much rain
can't seem to break these chains
so much pain
still can't break these chains

Why Hold On

why do we tend to keep holding on to something we can
never rally have?
Do we keep it to dream or do we keep it to remember.
No one really knows.
But i think if we hold on to what we can't ever really
have that we only hurt our hearts more when we find out
that our dreams and reality are not always the same
thing
and may not always happen the way we want it to.

The Free One

You were in a cage but you wanted to be free.
You wanted to fly so I set you free.
Go where you want to go it does not matter to me.
For it does not good to hold on to something if it doesn't want to be.
So leave and find another to keep you safe and warm.
My door will no longer be open so I hope it does not storm.
And as I mope I think of you the one I set free to fly to someone new.

Breaking Up

Making up
seems so much easier
than breaking up
the fact remains
we're only fooling
ourselves
Knowing saying goodbye
is hard to do
second chances
is only an reason
to hold on to something
that's gone
Knowing it's wrong
refusing to let go
despite the history
once love is gone
it's not coming back
Memories won't mend
the pain
a blind man can see
it's time to walk away

Irons In the Fire

do one thing

two things

3 or 4 jobs,

keep busy

keep your mind busy

keep going

keep it moving.

otherwise

it all begins

to start

bothering you,

the car horns

the neighbor

the smells

the city

the people.

warm food served cold

cold food served warm.

people eating loud on the bus

the bus eating you like a bag of chips.

go on to something else

something better

done well.

Those Feelings...

The distance between us won't change anything
Not this unexplanable feeling
But maybe time will
The love I have for you is strong
But you doubted we would last long
I thought maybe you'd just stick and see
But you left me as i pleaded
You moved on to something better
Now I'm alone without even a letter
I tried moving on, it'd be easy
But it was harder than ever for me
Now in the past I will no longer look
Or try to find those feelings you took

For the Better

Falling in & out of you
Holding on to something true
When we touched
You quelled a thirst

Subjugating love with desire
Throwing what I believe in the air
When we kiss
We set off solar flares

Blind & deaf to everything around me
Sensitive when it comes to you
When I look in your eyes I see the universe
Holding you sets me free

Dreaming of you
Thinking of you
You believed in me
I believed in you

The world is better with our love in it.

I Never Wanted

I never wanted to give up on you
But as time passed, you made it clear
That this was something I had to do
It makes no sense holding on to something
That doesn’t want to be held on to

I was so used to having you around
That I felt lost without you
Who would have known
That’s over time
I’d be better off without you

Now I’m not here to argue
And I didn’t come to fight you
I came back for one reason
I came back to thank you

my old poems

I read through my old poems
And my heartbreak is just words
I can’t even remember what I felt for you
Or why i was so desperate to hold on to something that didn’t even exist

I spent years pining
Overanalyzing your every movement
Thinking that maybe next time you’d say something.
You never did, yet i still held on to hope.

Until you gave me the light of day
And i realized in that moment
That you never wanted me
And I didn’t know why i wanted you.

I Heard You Whisper

I wonder why
You tie yourself down
Giving in to emotions you don't feel
Just hanging around

I wonder why
You wait for the second shoe to drop
Maybe if you lived a little
Your deep depression would stop

I heard you whisper
But I doubt you knew
About how you're just hanging on
Even though the ties are frayed and few

I wonder why
You don't just let go
Grab on to something new
Take a hold

A life is worth living
If given a chance
Maybe next time I'll be whispering
A warning in advance
