I Heard You Whisper

I wonder why
You tie yourself down
Giving in to emotions you don't feel
Just hanging around

I wonder why
You wait for the second shoe to drop
Maybe if you lived a little
Your deep depression would stop

I heard you whisper
But I doubt you knew
About how you're just hanging on
Even though the ties are frayed and few

I wonder why
You don't just let go
Grab on to something new
Take a hold

A life is worth living
If given a chance
Maybe next time I'll be whispering
A warning in advance

I am so happy to have time to read some wonderful poetry today. Glad yours was one of the pieces I was able to read Rachal. Thank you for sharing your writing with us. Love, Carol
