When that jolly red man with a sack
brings your wishes to you off the rack,
no late Christmas night
for first frosty light,
warm the car up and take it all back.
its was snowing
wind blowing
it began to make stack
we took shove off the rack
when out back
it was snow ball fight
we had fun doing the night
we were happy not sad
WE DID
THE KIDS SNOW
MOM AND DAD
hairy ghoul added juice to gruel
daughter thought he was a big fat fool
mind your business he said
you recent undead
she turned to go to monster school
gruel was gurgling hardily so
thus, she did not mind having to go
she got her backpack
and shoes off the rack
yelled goodbye to those in dungeon below
Cleaning out the closets
in the autumn time of year
Old shoes fell off the rack,
worn and faded from use.
How many steps were taken
with that very pair?
Steps to work and shopping
then back home again.
New shoes may replace them
taking different steps tomorrow
but old shoes cannot return us
as time is only borrowed.
She dances, she glances
Beyond her shoulder.
She peers,
Looking back;
Her beautiful smile.
She poses in the mirror.
{Stanza 1: Rick Parise}
A polka dot dress
She marveled at bought
Off-the-rack by hubby;
Twirling like a dervish,
She squeals with delight.
She loves her birthday gift!
Loud, rowdy, coarse,
a bit rough around the edges,
more likely to say “Shut Up!”
than “Quiet Please.”
Jeans, well worn,
faded by harsh winds,
and searing sun.
face to match.
The “gods?”
diabolical match makers.
Soft spoken, silky smooth,
edges buffed,
hushed a room
on entering.
Tailored,
off the rack,
draped on artistic
magnificence,
smiling……that…
smile.
