Thor betrayed the command of Odin
So he could kill all of the Yo'dens

With his very own crew
He used his hammer too

Till Odin came swiftly wide open!

YULETIDE ORIGINS
YULETIDE ORIGINS

On the first day of Yuletide
The winter solstice ends
Twelve days until
A new solar year
A feast to the sun
Odin as the god
Pagan origins
Hauled heavy log
Chance to repent
The giving of gifts
Holly and the ivy
And then adopted by Christianity

Still life furnished room
Broken chair
One dare not sit on
Narrow bed
Hard to sleep on
Table leaning
Daren’t eat on
Two-burner
Caked hard with spilt on
Out the window
Hope often stomped on

Someone’s present year
Destined to be long gone...

How generous the bounty
Bruised and perfect

Hoisted upon the shoulders of experience
Carried as pain’s reward
Needing not a marketplace
Accepting fruition as recompense
Knowing wealthy are those
Who die healthy of mind...

Blacksmith's massive hands
delivering powerful hammer blows,
beating glowing red steel
into submission.
Sparks illuminating
magnificent artistry.
Fiercely wielded
in the name of Odin.
Tales heralded it's glory.
Unearthed, virtually unscathed.
Instrument of death,
1,200 years at peace....

Unearth That Which Exists Boundless and Free!
Odin ,unearth that which exists boundless and free!
O, unleash that spirit-filled man inside of thee!

Awake! shake- bake a cake- jump in a lake !

Pray! say-catch a ray -jump in a bay!

O, unleash that spirit-filled man inside of thee!

With expression unchecked
Imagined ink yet to dry
The page fearful of touch
Find the eyes
Beneath which awaits the meaning

For

This frame that lives also as picture
One's fleeting first-person impulse
A captured inner focus shared
Clings tenaciously
To the world's lenity
Every poet's temporary forever...

Norway
There are many fjords where the Viking ships came forth. Those mighty warriors dominated the lands up north. The fallen in battle would go to meet Odin in Valhalla. For quite a long time, the Vikings ruled Scandinavia. Four centuries before Columbus, they arrived in America. There is a descendent from the Vikings named Harald today. The great land he rules is known as Norway.

Ethel-Red Add-On
then there came the fiery one, red headed rancid Reeta, she threw hot coals into his bed, an flew on him the cheater, they wrestled and they fought like dogs, but she was fierce with anger, the smoke n fire did billow, fog, burning flesh ere the manger, so they sprang into the icy sea, made love till they were soggled, Odin looking down, with a tiny frown, dubbed em hairy Gog n Magoggle Don

My ode to Odin:

Hanging in Yggdrasil,
Neither in sky, nor on Earth.
For nine nights and nine days,
Without mead or a meal.

A self-inflicted spear wound,
As I sacrificed myself to myself.
I watched my blood flowing to the ground,
With my blood creating the runes,
As their wisdom entered my bones.

A Seidr I became to enhance my gain.
Ever since that moment…
I will never be the same....

Natural selection
Can’t help it

Way back
Necessity abounded
Creating proceeds by chance

Expanded into nonrandom reality
From random happenstance

Amassed complexity from
Cross-thatched simplicity

Spark-lit some consciousness
Through unconscious irony

Popped out creatures
Demanding purpose and discovery

And science/common sense labeled it
Evolution...

Hickory
Take you no bread nor wine.
Craving will die in time.
For those who endure rime
will know a joy sublime.

Hanging from windswept tree,
know yourself, know your deeds.
Drooping now over scree,
suffer in bitter glee.

Many days without cup.
Many nights without sup.
Riddles and truths unstuck.
Screaming still, take them up.

Cut down from hickory,
rise now in victory.
Feat for the century,
spread now your alary....

Seekers of Rune Stones
"Legend has it that the Gods of Asgard
opened up the heavens, and brought Rune
Stones with them; stones that had Man's secrets,
and his connection to the divine realm" the old sage
assured them, his long, white beard gently being swayed
by the sea breeze.

....little did they know that the old man was actually Odin,
who foresaw their victory in recovering Thor's Hammer,
deep in the Ice Kingdom, hidden by Locke!.....

End of Days
Did you hear the thunder overhead?
Arise, arise ghosts of the dead
See the lightning flash in the black sky
Watch the rain fall before our eyes
Feel the earth as it begins to shake
Now rising Odin finally awakes
Look and you'll see the Valkyries
An ancient thousand year old prophesy
Has come to the light and reigns true
Spared only will be the chosen few
I look to the future without any fear
For I know that Ragnarok is here...

Cry of the Valkyries
Vallaha as Valkyries scream from
the depths of hell.
Charging out
into the vacuum
of an unoccupied mind
deafening all who listen
to their monstrous cry
from the bleak wilderness
called Vallaha.

Scream out to Odin
the scourger, charmer, enchanter.
Bewitched sinner sirens,
resonant, ensouling the strings
of unattended souls.
Lyrics whispered into
the trance of an ephemeral ballet
yet, appearing
epic in length and nature....

Memories Mirrored
                  by Odin Roark

A Boy Scout essential
The polished metal card mirror
The unbreakable monitor
Made to master Morse code
Used to measure wanna-be whiskers
And such

So it went
From puberty to manhood
Hall locker
To gym locker
Toiletry bag
To duffel bag
Afghan's mountain-dead
To triage hospital bed

Wrapped eyes needed little
Of the metal card mirror now
As blindness tearfully engaged
The enslavement of memory...

Time’s Echo
                      by Odin Roark

Arrest
Your today, as you
Allow
The forgetfulness of tomorrow.

Respect
The pain of yesterday, as you
Embrace
The now which thrives not on the past.

Seek
Beneath the jewel of the moment.
Cherish
The facets of reflective memories.

Reify
The forever-resonant as halos above the abyss.
Let free
The shackles of attachment.

For just as infinity knows but time’s echo,
So too Creativity’s countenance seeks no end....
