The automobile breezes
down the liquorice whip,
nonpareil dotted roadway
as the searing sun strobes lances
through the frozen forest;
piercing projections, phospheneal auras,
dance as retinal afterthoughts
within the cornea of man.

SAME MAN, SAME FOLK
The day I adorned value:
Damask king of attire
Gold made me new mint
And my finery nonpareil ;
Even kings called me son.
Then dearth dressed me up
In a calico from cockroach’s jaw
And hooves that tilted starboard
It was want’s magic moment:
The visible turned invisible.
So I wondered what had changed
Same man , same folk
Then a thought sprang up in me :
No one avoids a man because
He rode on a horse yesterday.

“Breath by breath thus that my soul presence be chaste.”
That first scented breath inhaled
as sweet as e'er I have smelled.
The first, the fine nonpareil,
only lasts till death expel.
Oh, that prime refreshing breath
leading to ultimate death.
I atone for sins unknown.
A mere babe, my courage flown.
A sip from the flowing Fount,
living a life to surmount.
With the angels as my guides,
a chaste life in me resides.
Whatever else life has taught me
over twenty years and several lifetimes,
whatever else I've seen
in continents and countenances,
anything I've ever found
in writings and music and art,
with thousands of encounters,
in nature and song and heaven,
whatever miracles have come along,
inviting deepest contemplation,
I’ve come finally to realize:
there is no one
no one even
remotely
like
you
