Cubistic Nightmare
as i napped
i took a snap
a photograph

of you
in the nude
but your back

was in front
of me so i
couldn't

see
your
eyes

or
your
smile...

SATURDAY
The 10th of April
the sun rose
yawning
shadows stretched
as blinking winds moaned.
Night shifters scurried home
day shifters chirped.
A tired moon napped
in an evergreen.

Premium Member Out On Cat Day
tonight on the back deck
the cat laid in my lap
while rain poured like heck
and lightning's thunder clapped

as bolts sky-cracks wrecked
the darkness was in color wrapped
all round and the rain never slacked
as fifteen year old iris simply napped

Music Crimes
There is a hostage situation at my house. My daughter "music"napped my old fashioned music player and gave me her old Ipod to use. She wants me to be more in the loop and upgraded. She won't give me mine back.. Doesn't she know you can't teach an old dog new tricks. LOL...

Drained
I walked three miles this afternoon;
My energy was sapped.
As soon as I got home, I crashed
And hit the bed and napped.

Today I couldn’t help succumb,
A sign of getting old.

Where once I’d walk for endless blocks
With energy to spare,
I tap into that reservoir,
But nothing’s waiting there....

Velvet
the morning soft like velvet
in the deepest hue
napped with color high and low
when the light shines through

these are the moments I sense you most
although you're not that close
through the wire I hear you
touching with absent fingertips

reach down in me, inside my soul
whisper softly in my ear
if I shut my eyes, I can feel you
and everything that we are...

Wooden Anniversary
Wooden Anniversary

She uncradles the phone with a lyric
for someone who might be calling
if I weren't calling again from work,

who would be calling, she says,
if five years ago I hadn't
promised her me.

Five years ago she believed me
and now she has children, four,
a house, my calls each noon.

Five years ago she lied to herself
as I napped on her parents' porch,
silent yet screaming the truth.
