Desperately my wandering soul

A place of silence looks to find

For

Is yearning the voice of God to hear

And with His divine Word to bind!

I often dreamed of the lofty place
Where my wandering soul would rest in grace
Where peace like a long lost friend
Would lie upon my wasted breast
And the   smile of an innocent child 
Carved deep into my wearied face
Thus earth be gone and heavens bliss await

Amid the whisperings of my wandering soul,
I grasped at straws, 
reaching for truth, 
but finding none.
Searching for one good man, 
but discovering Him gone.
Seeking wisdom, 
while gaining only knowledge.
Needing elevation to some higher plateau,
while on an escalator rushing nowhere.
Striving to attain the unattainable with works.
Unable to control my simplest situation,
from my souls depth, in desperation , cried I.
"Please Lord, save me, a sinner"...
