heart swells and explodes
with love
but then i fall
its chaos and death from above
I went to call
Hung up
Thought again
Tried once more
My mouth
was dry
It thirst
for water
My lungs
Colapsed
From your
Empty heart
Never to be rescued
I drown in my own sorrow
Waiting for the water
To fill my empty lungs
Dream of his breath
Near my lips
So close to touching his skin
Before I swallow death
I would take in liters of air of
confidence and honesty,
after that, I would dive
in the deepest parts of the
political ocean
to hunt politically apathetic, callous
dishonest squids

To let go of
the negative energy
I both inhale and exhale
I need to redeem
my old lungs
and implant
some new ones
to absorb
new life
and new energy
hovering
the atmosphere
around me

My challenge for October
Is to still be alive in November
I am in my 89th year
It is not dying, I fear
We all face challenges every day
Life will always be that way
From the moment of conception
To our resurrection.
Life is a challenge.
Dive into poetry,
Smoking a lot less,
Less smoke,free breathing,
Less stress on my chest,
Longer life,my health,
I know its for the best,
Although stopping is so hard,
So hard to digest,
Ink versus Smoke,
An internal test,
Who will be victorious,
In my contest......
Silent steps I take
Across the ocean floor
Cool abyssal plain
Bluescape peace
Gazing up
At the sunlit surface
A false freedom
Beckons…
The air above
Polluted with urgency
Foul with anger
Not so sweet anymore
Enveloped in briny womb
No longer ashamed
Submergence forever
Lungs back to gills
The crack of the bat
The arc of the ball
It lands over the fence
Gives the fans a thrill
Close play at the plate
A headfirst slide
Clouds of dust raised
He's safe; game's tied!
Cheer your lungs out
Give an occasional boo
Beer and brat at the ballpark
Great day for me and for you
On the tenth day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me;
one dose of Covid,
breathless and restless,
tire and fatigue,
loose bowels and sickness,
sore throat and acne,
phlegm, cough and sneezes,
acute loss of smell,
aches and pains,
cycling high fever,
and a lung full of pure misery.
I've come to believe
we're born with lungs
filled with gasoline
along a fault line of flint.
Better to inhale than exhale
be silent as a pansy
smiling at the breeze.
Open your ears
to the sound of metal on metal
always be ready to run...
but for the time being
have a little fun.
Gasoline lungs.
I want you to touch me until
My ribs become piano keys and my
Lungs are filled with sheet music I
Want you to love the way that
Art fills my soul and blooms in
My head, I want you to hate
The way that I can't let go
I want you to touch me the way
That the crisp winter air suffocates
The corrupted inside air.
Swept away on the wave of your voice
Never another will be my first choice
I play with my eyes closed to take it all in
Please song don't end, just forever begin
Parked in the lot of my favorite store
I have to compose this, I cannot ignore
The beat of my heart, it just won't calm down
No one can top you, you wear the crown
A film of bubbles on her hull
as ice around her crowns it's chill
descension pits and twinks it's tune
to merry wandering fish full bloom
In white, albino, skeletonised
with scales of silver for their eyes
as liquid in their mouth, it glides
these hollow sailor's wave goodbye~

EIGHT BY EIGHT
31 July 2026
Fog uncorks wet cedar perfume,
then pours it through each waiting lung
where moss rehearses nameless years
and bark remembers rain by scent—
until my breath is not my own
but loam translating root to blood,
as earth inhales itself through me
and leaves with my remembered breath.
I take you in like water
to quench my thirst and pain.
I breathe you in like the air
that keeps my lungs and pulse.
I couldn't resist
leaning on your shoulder
and feeling the warmth of your chest.
My feelings were in a twist,
flying in the land of nowhere,
before you insisted
on mending my broken pieces
and creating a new world
inside my walls.
~ emptiness chokes lungs of night
coughing from rib caged fever,
a tight-rope walker lies still...
amidst full moon’s howl
pain, wrapped in black holocaust
as her bridal dress withers,
staining a torn, cancelled love…
pre-nuptial songs crack ~

Rick Parise's CONTEST: One Of Your Favz -
1 - 8 LINES!!! OLD POEM
Your love came shyly wrapped—
I almost tore the paper too roughly.
One careless tear
and the whole gift might have scattered
like thin glass across stone.
Now that it’s mine,
it trembles whenever I breathe,
sweet as the first sip of wine
after years of thirst.
I will not raise my voice.
I will not let it fall.
I will keep inhaling this quiet
until my lungs forget every other air.
i wait for that phone call
staring out my window
sun bleeds in,
the pane condensed like tears
just hearing your voice makes me happy,
inspires me,
just your voice
i wait,
and wait,
until the sun has faded into the horizon,
the darkness begins to flood
finally, that loud ringing
a slight panic,
my heart leaps
come to find out,
it isn't you
it's your mother,
sobbing,
water in your lungs.
Form:
I consume the galaxy,
My fingers rooted in the cosmic soil of Saturn's rings.
Smoke enraptures like a comet,
Prancing in the vacuum of my soul.
The moon caresses me with careless whispers as I orbit thoughts I do not dare name.
Quasars pulsating in the rhythm of my heart.
Each beat is consumed by luminous stars.
I surf the cosmos in creation of my own cloud.
Safe at home in the infinite High.
It's despicable
Lies
All around me
Breathing down my neck
It's like I've never lived before
Why can't I
Live for myself
And I don't know
Why
Do I suffocate
The dust is choking
But it's the only way that I can
Breathe
So controlling
Comforting
Insight
All around me
Still can't seem
To find the reason for my dying
Because I
Live for myself
Must I stop my lungs from breathing
Oh, unrest in my soul
Living for the world
Never satisfies
Is nothing
