Fog Borrows Lungs

Nette Onclaud
EIGHT BY EIGHT

Fog uncorks wet cedar perfume,
then pours it through each waiting lung
where moss rehearses nameless years
and bark remembers rain by scent—
until my breath is not my own
but loam translating root to blood,
as earth inhales itself through me
and leaves with my remembered breath.

Andrea, an appreciation from such an observant poetess as you makes my humble verses feel far more worthy than they might otherwise appear. Your generous words carry the rare gift of a poet’s eye—the ability to recognise not only what is written, but what quietly breathes beneath the lines. I am truly grateful for your thoughtful encouragement. In quiet light, Mohit Mitra
