Premium Member Why oh Why?

The soup I eat is always lentil.
The floss I use is only dental.
So why would one so smart
be denied an apple tart
by a mom who calls me mental?

Meduvada

Mix black lentil batter
Must add salt and spices
Make holed rings, put in oil
Meduvadas frizzle
Mouthwatering, fluffy
Melts in mouth, soft, crispy
My most favorite snack

A Fine Feast

First, I start with soup and bread:
A lentil porridge,
And then turkey breast and veg
With Yorkshire pudding -
Plenty of gravy -
Washed down with
Ale!

Peek a Boo

Breathe in the sun
while breathing in the sun
and the sun breathes her in
lost in wrinkles in her lips
death get a new job
Gentle as a lentil
Delicacy wears her
no one turns her command
In her presence can hardly stand
Looking at the fading universe
how can it be
you see me

November

Fine Thanksgiving is day when we are grateful.
Horn's outpour of much grain, with grapes, and citrus,
nighshades, various kinds, along with lentil,
makes life pleasant this holiday before us.
We hope turkey's not hide of leather, old cuss.
Grand-scale feast, this our friendly time at table.
Widespread harvest crops make our country stable.

Ice Cream

I am Janet Muthoni
I run Muthoni‘s ICE CREAM STORE,
there are flavors in my freezer
you have never seen before,
five divine creations
too delicious to resist,
why not do yourself a favor,
try the flavors on my list:

Peanut pumpkin bubble gum

Garlic gumbo gravy guava

Lentil lemon liver lava

Watermelon waffle wheat

Chicken cherry honey dew

I am Janet Muthoni,
I run Muthoni's ICE CREAM STORE,
taste a flavor from my freezer,
you will surely ask for more.

Chicken Pot Pie

The man sat in his wheelchair;
His aide was on the phone,
Behavior to which aides and sitters
Oftentimes are prone.

“You’re hungry?” She hung up and said;
The question I’d not heard.
“But you had lunch!” and yet
His urge for food was undeterred.

“Remember? At the Mansion?
Chicken pot pie was your meal,
With lentil soup, then ice cream.”
(Likely as a mid-day deal.)

It wasn’t even 2 o’clock
Yet still, they headed back,
Abandoning the river
For an after-lunchtime snack.
