What Do Dogs See
The leashed dog sniffs 'round
Halts to stare into the dark
On the edge of trees...

Crazy Eye's
Half his mind is wandering loose
the other half leashed to a rabid poodle.
His toothy grin is as stable as a tropical monsoon.
He will internally combust one day,
if not, I will gladly light the fuse....

Rats argue with the seagulls.
An “eau de low tide” scent rides the fog.
As feral cats hiss at the sunrise
leashed dogs do their business
“tricks for treats” traitors.
The sound of traffic signals….”LAST CALL!”

How Would It Be
How would it be
if the many versions of your imperfect self
were like dogs
that you kept until they grew old,
and you not wanting to put them down
when their time came?

You wouldn’t need to teach
them anymore,
or keep telling them to let go
of your past.

You could take them for a walk
leashed of course,
while you took those most necessary
steps
away from yourself....

Unicorn
In times long past
Lived a creature fair
Some said it was fantasy
Some said it was there.

Roaming the hills and forests
With wicked chains ‘twas leashed
Fighting for its own secret place
Came a virgin to tame the beast.

A single twisted horn
Atop a white gentle steed
Having virility and virtue
Healing powers to all in need.

Depicted in stories told
Dangerous yet forlorn
Freedom loving, wild
The illusive Unicorn....

Writing Poems About Stolen Liquor
A small vial,
I’ve nicked it,
A bottle of tequila,
Aren’t I a delinquent,

My heart is racing
Against my mind,
What a craze
To be foolish and hungry,

Must be clever,
even more cunning,
I’ll Regret this forever?
Never know ‘till I try…

Can’t forget the promise
I’m leashed to,
Said I wouldn’t again...
Now where to?

Maybe i’ll just tell him,
He’s doing the same kinda,
Even last night,
He told me if I felt up to it…

Don't take as song, what the media cackles.
They're just bull horned harlots for politicians.
Who'd sell your marrow to the lowest bidder-
They lust for our division to maintain power.
For a people united is poison to them
(a cross in the face of a vampire).
Citizens united would mean term limits.
No more heavenly wage increases...
Their necks would be short leashed.
Insider trading would all but cease....
but only in a good citizen's dream....

Mind Unleashed
The mind is a dangerous place,
Wid creatures trapped inside..
In hidden nooks and corners,
Behind thick,high walls..
Struggling for release..

The untamed desires,
Writhing and scraping for escape
Escape and turn into reality

Leashed for too long,
Unchecked and forgotten,
Its now grown stronger,
And is on the brink of release..

Its fueded a war,
Between two mighty forces:
The brain and the heart,
No matter who wins,
I'll always lose......

Who Are You
Who are you?
 You who are:

    Half Baked
 Half Crocked
         and
 Half Cracked

    Unscrewed
       Unzipped
         and
     Unleashed

 Who are you?
 You who are:

            Baked
         Crocked
          and
         Cracked

         Screwed
            Zipped
           and
         Leashed

      Or are you?
   You who are:

                 Just
          Plain Old
             Screwy
                    To
                    Me...
