Notes About The Poem

For the  Heat Of The Heartbeat Poetry Contest of Ink Empress

Three phrases are marked with  ~   ~  around them to show the three prompts used

Each Time You Leave

Can you see me here, my dear? I wane like an autumn day, and ~leashed to your dusk~ I fade . . . . So sadly I’m fading away. You are my sun, the only one, my everything for me. You vanish warmth, and trembling I stand ~where sky drifts into sea.~ Each time you leave, I grieve. For sunrise I then yearn. ~I will find you beyond the stars~ if by dawn you do not return.

ahhhh I hope you find a love like this my friend... We all deserve a love where we miss someone and they miss us, when we are not there..

You have used the prompts in a smart way. A passionate appeal to your dear one gone out of your sight. Your love is so intense that separation even for a day is intolerable. Beautiful contest entry.

Small, yet profound:) in answer to your question on my poem, Carl Spitzweg was a painter, he painted "The butterfly hunter". My poem was prompted by that painting and your quote. I wish I could post pictures on my phone... Got no laptop and find it difficult, especially for ekphrasis poems...
