Just the Right Place
Today the sky is full to bursting,
the air a cloak ne’er night.
The lawns so plump with chlorophyll
the world’s full of life.
A lassitude fills harried hearts
they slow their frantic pace.
The day is wide with wonder
and all are in their place....

Nil of Color
through gray
indecision of
lassitude,
is purity found
in a
colorless hollow suffuse
though,
beauty still calls
of weary song
somnolent,
I
fall to my knees
crystalline
tear drops
I find.....

Listless Lassitude
apathy grows, dread heavy in the heart
laziness lingers on the spirit’s light
sluggishness gestures - cloudy, dimming hope
idleness, lethargy, dark shadow’s plight

A Question of Definition
a question of definition
camping?
luxuries au wilderness
juxtaposition
air conditioned lassitude
with untouched raw nature
three piece baths
next to outhouses
wheels rolling through trees
electric lights break
the pristine dark
camp-fire-crackle ambiance
food microwaved
hot running water, lakeside
even the chipmunks shun
mere bread
for more sumptuous fare....

Soul Ketchup
mostly when you leave
the sunshine stays, but it’s all different
and the hollowness
and the opression
and the muzziness
and the fecklessness
and the lassitude
and all that other things, even slightly
hit sharply like soul lightnings
and fire tornadoes
and the beating tomato of my heart
feels like a ketchup trapped in a bottle
but I‘ll always wait until that day
when I can see you again...

Interlude
INTERLUDE
Plenitude, by nature He exists
Beatitude, for He is the Son of the most High God
He is the beginning and the end
Life came from Him, interlude for this moment, for a life time
His mollitude my inheritance, for He died on my behalf
Lassitude is was, turpitude my past with a but
For you revived us and treasured us
And you left us in one state
Gratitude

Lassitude
Avoiding the girl-scouts
with their cookies.
I hasten out of the store.
I am too soft now to wait
for a bus
in the dead of winter.
It's a fragility, it is a lassitude,
it’s a small uncertain privilege.
Shoes laced together,
hang from power lines.
I drive by,
car windows locked.
Walking with a full shopping bag
in the dark and cold
- an old woman.
I would probably frighten her
if I offered a lift.
I drive on by....

Solitude
I contemplate in solitude,
Not one false comfort gathered round;
Away from all that's harsh and rude,
I contemplate in solitude.
Enthralled, I sit in lassitude,
Though fettered hopes have pressed around;
I contemplate in solitude,
Not one false comfort gathered round.
From the painting, "Solitude," (Above) by Lord Frederick Leighton.

Cures of Emptiness and Lassitude
The sound of morning
mizzles,
brings laziness in my
half closed eyes,
the car engine whirs in
the garage that
awakens my senses,
while drones of the bees
and birds push me to stand up.
The hoots of the monkeys
in the woods,
with flying brilliant colors
of butterflies,
those mild touch of the
waft waves on the beach,
bring spectacular radiance
in the middle of my
emptiness.
A little paradise
that dumps the agitation;
and gives my body
a composure from lassitude....

A Time For Grief
Since that fatal day began we were forced inside
and when churches closed all Gods people cried
yes we forgot how to pray, with voice and platitude
we opted for the lazy ways of lethargic lassitude
Time isn't promised as we wait on bended knee
and even though we know that Faith in God is key,
we choose to bathe our faces with tears of disbelief
for we have lost loved ones and are filled, with grief.
