Short Morals
- Short Morals -

What we know we should,
What we wish we could,
Those living in sin,
Those loving the grin,
They preach and decry,
They laugh and bye-bye,
I try to live my life just,
Because in my heart I feel I must.

The Base
What I feel and what I think
While I’m standing on the brink
Of determining what is true
Must not solely influence what I do
But my morals, lest I have those
May just guide me, but who knows
I might end up acting wise
Or lay the base for my demise.

Conscience Calls
Morality is well and good
and every human being should
endeavour to do what is right
and live with others in their sight.
Our conscience is a helpful guide,
an innate sense to be applied
But Jesus showed us all the way
to find forgiveness when we stray.

Morality discerning right from wrong
That there be order, society, strong

Cultures diverse, opine divergently
Head over heart, debating speciously

Oh hermit, choose love unconditional
Outpouring from the heart; Gods miracle

Recognising singular consciousness
Each being then vibrant in blissfulness

Another chapter closed, one more year in the books.
A day of reflection, shadowed by sanguine looks.

We’ve all seen loss it’s been a difficult year.
It’s time to move forward and dry each tear.

Opportunity unveiled; it will greet you with a knock.
Seize your moment, embrace each tic of the clock.

Welcome to page one, a new chapter we’ll write.
Let’s emerge from the darkness and dwell in the light.

A Set of Scruples
Last year’s peace protests have left us bereft;
untold violence, fires, murder and theft.
As long-held morals find themselves interred,
society reaps a conscience that’s blurred.
Peer pressure rules the day, threats from the “gang”
dictate, Cheap counsel chosen, Boomerang!
Bounce back,  enroll as one of God’s pupils;
His Word teaches a fine set of scruples.

Premium Member Who I Am
My name is Mark Koplin
and it has been since birth
My dear Mother and Father
were the salt of the Earth

Some days I am ornery
and not real discreet
Other days I’m like candy
and just a little bit sweet

I can flow just like water
even when I’m ice cold
but when the temperature rises
that’s when you’ll see me get bold

I can be very loyal
and ease the pain you’ve been through
or I can be evil as hell
It just depends upon you...

Soup Creek Vs Putin
We were all shocked when in Soup Creek arrived Putin
Said he came to boogie doing some Boot Scootin'
Mayor Tom said, "Fair Game!!
So, Jenna took dead aim
Her gun fired and the varmint was done, darn tootin'!

"There's no place for that devil on Boot Hill," folks cried.
Body dragged away, left in the sun till he fried
That night Soup Creek held a feast
Toasting the death of the beast
Asked how he'd died, Sheriff Koplin said, "Suicide."...

Knights of Justice

Keeping those away from malice
offering solace to wounded hearts
proffers hope and loving kindness
little ones shielded with his cape
ignited passion for what is right
nothing else matter for Arthur's Knights

Light a torch
in these dark times
forget not those who stood
echoes of heroes past

Fools always babble
by the fountain of their spittle
intensely the village beggar laughs

One is taught morals and values at a young age
But, influences from their peers take center stage
Causing a person to make the wrong choices
As one reaches maturity one can quiet the voices
Practicing the values, they were taught as a child
And no more partying and running buck wild
Passing on their morals to their loved ones
Whether that be relatives, daughters or sons

Premium Member Thank You Mark Koplin
Dedication to Poet Mark Koplin. Thank you for everything.

It was a difficult time for me last spring
When Mark came along in a special way to bring…
Support, strength, faith and care to give
He spoke for me when I couldn’t, as I was trying to live
His poems are filled with all of this too
Ready to take a stand for what is true
He has a lot to give and with his writing we see
Special people like him out there, I thank ‘gratefully’

Listen to poem:
i write what i call poetry
to share with whoever will resonate

it may not be your style
then chances are it’s not for you

you may have a suggestion
i’ll gladly listen

but if you’re aiming to convert me
don’t waste your breath

i just won’t do it
i write because i need to be free to be me

revere the tree that bore you as a fruit,
respect the one that fed you from its root!

poison not river that waters your field,
or burn the crops after you reap its yield,

respect for your parents is moral code,
when they are old do not shed them as load!

remember their love, agonies they bore,
your being is made from their inner core!
