An old couple in San Jose
get divorced every other day
In between they elope
with just toothpaste and soap
afraid what their parents might say

Hostile tribes lived close to mission.
Soldiers' use brought tribes's submission.
They saw life's improved condition.
Life was sweeter.
Sale of mission reaped attrition
Day joys fleeter.
José, Edwin, and Josh are ready to claim the crown
Best team in baseball, they'll become renowned
Onward and upward
No stopping this herd
Forget the Yanks and Red Sox in their pretty ball gowns
Jose's in the snow
Oh don't you know
He shovels it out
But it still comes back down
So he builds snow angels
To stave off the danger
To keep himself sane
And get through the game!

A half of him fell into the river running wild,
Yet still, his spirits remained in manner mild.
Then, he tossed freely the other half and said:
“Go! Seek thy mate that this great joy o’ thine
Be upon those who find you, slippers o’ mine!”
Note:
This tribute poem is about an event in Dr. Jose P. Rizal's
early life. He was a poet/author of "Noli Me Tangere" and
"El Filibusterismo", his famous novels that cost his life.

Jose, the kid on the corner --
El Macho -- who knows no English
and who sells himself to eat
(being still not quite dry)
slept last night in an alley
shielded from wind and eyes
by the bulk of two dumpsters
positioned at angles to each other.
This morning, his smile's
as brilliant as sunshine.
And if he's not exactly squeaky clean,
he's only a little the worse for wear --
probably more immaculate than are we,
potential buyers to whom he flaunts his wares.
