Verbal
irrigation
streams
that rush and flow
Tributaries
far and wide
messages
in tow
Watering
the wasteland
Arid lulls
retreat
Freeing what
the silence hides
and reticence
— defeats

We were; yes we were!
Brewed for this day.
Innured a yoked thicket.
Offing but at the nose tip
Till we had a stomach full
Receiving more, yet, we keep.
The bitter-tasting dark fluid.
Which settles in our veins.
Blurring our sight
And quaking our feet.
Our feet? Thorned for irrigation
Of blood and sweat.
The flower rejoiced; we winced.
Perseverance replaced our view
As Eldorado floods our sight.

Forever my darling;
Your mine treasured flower;
And I love you
I love you
So in love with you
Beware my flower;
planted by the desert;
I'll be the water;
Irrigation the application of controlled love
To plant at needed intervals;
Your mine treasured flower;
So in love with you;
Forever my darling;
And I love you
I love you
So in love with you

Light Verse
Our soul is but
A drop of celestial rain
That
Is born out of the vapors of spirituality's ocean
Destined
To irrigate materiality's arid planes of ignorance
So as
The flowers of wisdom blossom in our hearts and minds
For
Their aroma guides us onto the path of love and compassion
That God for us has traced,
Before
It evaporates and returns to its divine home!

Out there on the edge of town
Lies a crumbling railroad track.
I set my feet to running,
Too late for turning back.
I left my love behind me
in an irrigation ditch,
I caught her with another man
So I up and shot the witch.
Now the hounds are chasing me,
My race is nearly run,
With nowhere left for me to go
I slowly pull my gun.
The barrel is cold against my head,
Eternity is near.
There’s just the sound of thunder
Exploding in my ear.
