In Cold Blood

War is not a career
  —but a calling

Where dreams become martyred
   in cold blood

The Last Straw

These last few years have put our world to test:
Pandemic threat, political unrest,
Divisive strife, we hoped, our past forgot
As lives that mattered were, in cold blood, shot...
But nothing impacted and shocked us more
Than unjustified and uncalled war.

I Have No One Else

Murdered in cold blood,
for  refusing to  be  Part;
corruption covered,
I weep for the life cut short,
weep!for I have no one else.

Orphan I become,
mingling with vipers and lice;
In cities of flies,
what can a tailless cow do?
Hope that truth shall come to light.

Selena

(Dedicated to Selena Quintanilla Perez who died March 31, 1995.)

You were murdered in cold blood in 1995.
While you lived, your music career thrived.
It was sad because you died at the age of twenty-three.
We were both born in 1971, you were the same age as me.
When you died, the music industry lost a great star.
Now you're singing for God because Heaven is where you are.

Regret

i regret being the one to care
in all my friendships of despair
i clearly saw the line and the limit
but i pushed past it to ignore what was written

i regret not knowing who i could've been
i killed myself to impress my friends

but now i lay in cold blood
no one around and nothing to hug
i paint a scene of my happiest days
and it's the only thing that chases the tears away

Bled Out

Shot in cold blood
Left to die
All for righteous feminism.

I’m the beast
Keep me at bay
Destroy my masculinity.

Soon I’ll be empty
A female clone
With male parts.

You’ll be sorry
If you aren’t already
Waiting for your Heroes.

I’ve been bled out
A husk
A blithering idiot.

You have your rights
Expensive price
You lost us.

Happy now?

Burn

I knew it the first time.
This would hurt a lot.
I'd take cover for you and yet you abandoned me there in cold blood.

How am I supposed to get it done?
When all it took to destroy me was one shot?
It all came down to me. It reappeared again.
I can feel them again.

So how could you? And why would you?
You once told me about words.
Be careful with them for they might start a blaze.
It did.
They did.
I burned.

You'Re On the Run

(This is a fictional poem)

You shot a cop in cold blood and now you're on the run.
You put down your school books and picked up a gun.
You've come to my house to lay low.
The only thing I have to say is hell no.
You're going to pay the price for what you've done.
Go turn yourself in and put down that damn gun.
You may get the death penalty or then again you may not.
But you are going to pay because of that officer you shot.

Lefty

Lefty was a well known thug and criminal.
His reputation didn't do him any justice.
Because he was much worse than that.
He would rob or kill, depended on his mood.
Nobody messed with Lefty, all feared him.
Everything changed when he came across,
His protege , lil Lefty. Lil Lefty shot him dead
in cold blood.
The old saying is true " If you live by the
sword you die by the sword."

Terror In the Pews

In the church where God's spirit dwells
The bible study was going well
A stranger walks in and joins the group
And then to evil he would soon stoop

 Gunshots echo through the pews
As innocent blood begins to spew
The same people who had treated him so well
Were shot in cold blood by this demon from hell

The healing process has now begun
But when will this senseless violence be done
Tears of a nation once more are shed
As gunshots echo, and innocents lay dead....

Director's Cut and Paste, Revisited, Part 2

When a stranger calls,
the shining
city lights
die hard
behind enemy lines.

I walk the line
out of the past
roots,
where the red fern grows
in cold blood
of mice and men.

The thin red line
short cuts
a nightmare on Elm Street.
The searchers
don't look now
within these walls.

In the heat of the night,
the illusionist
cast away
titanic
cries and whispers.

The silence of the lambs
never cry wolf
while you were sleeping.

(Each line is a separate movie title.)

To My Son

Son, let your mouth strangle silence -
The silence that breeds pushovers
For profitless is the burden of a caged tongue
When spikes in thy bottom doth lodge.

Son, let not the bubbling discourses,
Of the raucous raconteurs
In cold blood, butcher your hardihood
For rhetoric is just but the flailing of the tongue.

And, Remember, O son, the ways of the wise;
That gold lies snug in potted jaws,
And a little chatter cocktailed in a little hush,
Make amity in the depths of humanity.
