When, once, a peanut and a walnut met,
as covered by the Iowa Gazette,
the question good folks asked was whether

Death Met In a Gazette
There are times when death may be met;
Had been one of oldest that is a Gazette;
News supplying;
Crying and dying,
And newspaper is filled with much regret.

I sensed a touch, a hug almost.
Unrestrained presence hung about
refreshing, refilling my brain.
Thoughts came to arrest the mundane;
streams of purpose now flood my drought.
Somewhat doubtful, walking my dog,
beset with angst, a charming fog
encompassed my way, gone afield.
Overnight, the Morning Gazette
published the news, hard to forget -
along that path thieves were revealed
My course is sealed by One who’s just;
I place my trust beneath His shield.
