the patient who'd seen

from whom I had heard

I won't risk telling people that don't care
But I observe that dealing with being let down looks similar for two types
The lacking in confidence return yearning to be liked
The confident return assured they are not the factor 
I possibly require a repertoire of swears 
Of the promise and expletive variety
Because I'm less than tolerant when forgotten
I'll just tell the ether
As I wouldn't want to appear high maintenance...

of hallowed whispers
spoken in baritone harmony
Mind manifesting cries 
in instrumental song
that sing soothing melodies 
to my wailing heart
I'm held by a symphony 
of falling teardrops
that dance 
to a love like ballad 
of drunken romance, 
while hymns I pen, 
and my crushed comforts 
are captured
by cracked stanzas...

Stay awake stay awake he repeated
And then the worst of the expletive 
For it was just a struggle to maintain
A semblance of order in his refrain

Say it over and over again
Until it became like a long lost friend
But you have to practice the call
If only to make it to the final footfall 

And then there were the stares
Without one ounce of heartfelt cares
So wander along within your world
