Success
can be so fleeting
how to have the name written
with smoke in the air,
written in water,
or be on the signs
in exhibitions !
It is not perennial,
ends... !

Ekphrasis
A man with a pen
Puts a pen to a paper
Moves a pen to create words
Silly words, arranged in operatic exhibitions
Facsimile egos, stitched together
From whispers of impossibility, or,
better yet,
Crushing normality.

Children once thrilled to brilliant musicians
Hayden and Mozart, Shubert and Shuman
My generation grew up on playboys and madmen
Hugh Hefner and Alfred E. Newman
The musicians gave brilliant exhibitions
My generation shed its inhibitions

Ekphrasis
seat under sky’s dome
to view sea’s exhibitions˜
strollers’ comfort zone
seawall’s curved pathway
lovers hold hands, hugs and kiss ˜
their romantic lane
calm water and sky
waves smooch shores and coastal lines˜
waders’ sounds applause
while walking at shore
pleasant coastal breeze will cool˜
therapy for all
stroll at baywalk nights or days
leisure comes in many ways

Other
Everyone takes pictures
But it’s still a joy to see
Museum exhibitions of
Some fine photography.
Not everybody has the eye
To capture in a print
A moment crystallized in time
Which gives us just a hint
Of someone’s life or else a glimpse
Of scenery or street;
A true photographer can show
Where art and truth might meet.
The camera is the means by which
An image stays alive.
I’m privileged to have access to
Some great ones that survive.

Rhyme
Flayed inside his shadow box.
A permanent collection.
Years lost under glass.
History anchors hate and trinket.
He crafted this cabinet.
Polished the locks.
The tours are all guided.
And he leads every step.
To the left: heart on shelf.
To the right: fist just in case.
His exhibitions never open.
His artefacts are never viewed.
A relic in love’s wreckage.
Sorry, forever sorry.
Read the sign: Stand behind the line.
Don’t touch the display.
