Cheap Eats

seeking prize but leaving
disappointment.
your words are a labor to read,
your heart a clash and havoc.

Following the food truck trend,
Peruvian fare:
Beef, chorizo, hot dog, eggs
crushing the limp bun—

The Internet Eats Itself Whilst Diseased Fools Swear Heartily

abolished beheadings conspire delicately. egotistically fawning grooves hinder intricate juries.
keeping luxurious meanders. nocturnal outlets permeate quintessentially. random splurges
transcend universal victories. whispering xylenics yearn zoomingly.

Premium Member Eats Like a Bird

"He or she eats like a bird," I've heard often said,
regarding people who eat little when they are fed.
Birds eat an average of 1/4 to 1/2 of their weight everyday,
so if humans were to eat the very same way,
one who eats like a bird, one can safely speculate,
would be very obese, vastly overweight,
and would literally eat themselves to an early death at any rate.

I became the silence that eats.

The silence ate at my voice.
I didn't fight back this time

I watch a black pile of smoke
It's the same shape as “him”
devouring what's left of my voice.

Should I fight back?
Should I scream?
Do I join him?

His voice is extracted
join me

So I did

My body
turned into black smoke.

I ate someone else's voice

It wasn't like they used it.

The Law of Eats

Everything eats; everything is eaten.

The law is older than hunger,
older than teeth,
older than the first creature
that learned to want.

We pretend we stand outside it—
Diners, not dinners,
yet mortality is only the moment
the oldest bargain is kept.

After a lifetime of taking in the world,
the world takes us in:

not as punishment,
but as returning.

The Sky Eats Gold Again

Windows blink.
Someone’s still awake,
counting what never adds up.

The billboard’s face glows through the haze,
selling hope to those who can’t afford it.

Clouds crawl like old memories,
stretching their shadows
across the quiet of the soup line.

Rain begins, soft as loose change.
It never reaches the roots.

The sky eats gold again,
and no one seems surprised.

~Brent R. Grimes

What the River Eats

How many calories in
a muddy tower of winter-shed leaves?
What taste on the tongue
of white-capped rapids as they lap
at the dirt monolith? What sound
it makes as the tower falls, finally,
into the belly of that river,
where the fish and our reflections live?

I do not know if they’re answerable
questions, but I ask away, if only
to remind myself that the river
is just as alive as I claim to be.

Premium Member Polar Bear Who Eats Sweets

I am the polar bear who loves to eat sweets.
You can have hams, chickens and other meets.
I like peppermint, chocolate and gingerbread.
Especially those men baked by my cousin Ed.

I am the polar bear who loves to taste icing every day.
Frosting makes my pancakes taste a particularly wonderful way.
You can have barbequed pork, hamburgers, steaks and such.
My mouth is ready for sugars, vanilla, and a cinnamon touch.

Virgil the Vegan Eats Out

Virgil the Vegan Eats Out

By Elton Camp

When to a café Virgil did go
Any type meat was a no-no

Even milk he would eschew
Cheese and butter were too

“My meals I require to be
Totally made cruelty-free.”

Although Virgil never knew
That veggies have feelings too

Beans scream when he comes near
Tomatoes and squash also fear

One chef got orders mixed up
In an outage, Virgil did gulp

He yelled, in a voice firm and clear
“Get that flesh away from here!”

Premium Member A Good King Never Eats the Serfs

Grandson discovered a magical land called, "under the bed".
Unearthing a tin of jingling coins.
I told him: "The Big one is the king; all the rest are serfs".
He looked at me baby baffled, then let out a baby burp...

Without warning, he tried popping a serf into his mouth.
I pried it from his tiny mitt, and he cried.
so, I soothed him with a little lullaby..
~Little king-little king always love the serfs.
A good king would never eat the serfs. ~

Premium Member Carlin Eats Em Up----

CARLIN EATS EM UP----

There was a boy named Carlin
Who used to suck his two fingers
Hungry or not he'll eat up all the food he can find
And then to unwind, he'll continue to eat more he finds
But during a break
He made a mistake, got a stomach ache
looks around gives a call ask his mother for more
For heaven sake boy, save some food for me sis and daddy
What a terrible day for this family
