2021
The New Year
like a blank page
appears before me
Brings hope
that new days
dawn in peace,
Not clouded
by divisiveness
by pestilence
That body, soul, and spirit
will be in 2021
finally, free …
2020 will be irretrievably gone
forever!...

Freedom
Freedom to speak.
Freedom to lie.
Freedom to covet and justify.
Freedom to bully.
Freedom to buy.
Freedom to exploit the little guy.
Freedom of power.
Freedom to reach.
Freedom to rally with hate speech.
Freedom to love.
Freedom to hate and
freedom to state divisiveness makes America great....

The hot air balloon
In this open season of divisiveness and hate,
our President is being diminished like fish bait.
People forgetting his accomplishments and character traits.
They lack empathy for what's been on his plate,
show loyalty to the one facing a criminal fate,
that one who is afraid to debate: the liar,
the racist, the cheater, the snake.
The hot air balloon they elevate....

Trump Nose Always Knows
Trump Nose Always Knows
Huge Trump nose grows long
when he will sing same old song
cheats playing ping pong
must be more direct
divisiveness and disrespect
from bottom select
always to annoys
likes to make much noise
bias employs
Trump always will rob
been calling things a black job
sure is such a snob
Trump is terrible
thinks he is adorable
world deplorable...

The Day After - Black Cloud
I don’t know how to write this poem;
I’m nauseous and depressed.
Instead of moving forward,
Seems this country has regressed.
I’m fearful for the future
And I shudder at the thought
Of a leader whose demeanor
Such divisiveness has wrought.
There’s a black cloud that’s descended,
Filling half of us with dread
But we have to keep our strength up
For the battles still ahead....

Violence
Violence
Lives on
With rapid-fire multipliers in
The tales of two cities which are
Now in our frightening focus..
As divisiveness thrives
In a numbing atmosphere
Plurality declares independence
Here and then there and then often..
We are exploring dark extremities
No longer serving as creative
Expressions of our Whole..
Recognition of our veering
Means of expressing ourselves
Is sharply implored......

A Red-Blooded American Responds
Forgive me for feeling the need to say
I am neither a Communist nor a Nazi,
I’m a red-blooded American who served
My country in the U. S. Air Force, and,
I have always stood up for what’s right,
And, when bullied, I am up for the fight.
Divisiveness here is getting out of hand,
And probity is not at all being observed
Even hinting that I am a Nazi is crazy!
Forgive me for feeling the need to say.
