An

party guest
for Halloween
probably be dead
haunting the dining room
luring meek to the attic
whispering creepy melodies
to absorb dense atmospheric fog
desperately willowing all night long...

Premium Member Surprise Birthday Party
Running with terror onto the lawn,
they gathered outside my house,
along with me and the birthday “boy,” my spouse.
No more celebrating in the dining room would be going on.
All my guests said bye and left, for simply having seen a mouse!...

Brocker
a lude and lacivious man came walking in
he said he had a gun in his hand
nobody could see it
there was no threat in there
he shot his peace with no care
cleaning out the enitre dining room
i guess you learn to move when a man has a gun nobody can see

Premium Member Dining- Room Table
A place where family gather
At a large dining-room table
To eat a meal together
Or to gather and make plans
For the special occasion
That are coming up quckly

A dining-room table
Also used to hem clothes
To answer snail mail
Sit and chat with friends
Or just to read a book
A place to create poetry...

Premium Member Drama In the Kitchen
I spot him scooting along the dining room sideboard
Twitching all over, he peers into the kitchen
Cautiously, he advances a step or two
then he pulls up, looks around, sniffs the air...

Continues, moving within easy range of my broom
     poised to whack him senseless
One more step, you feeble rodent...
Ha! Your guts are coming out of your mouth...

Slinging in the Brain
Oh, Slinging in the Brain
It’s a crazy ass feeling
To be slinging again!

Would you please stop that?
Why Chef?
You are annoying the customers
They can hear me?

Oh, yes, one yells from the dining room.
We can ALL hear you!
The entire restaurant begins to sing
“Slinging in the Brain! Oh, Slinging in the Brain!”

I have never felt so proud....

A Box of Flesh
Go to the dining room
There the box is singing
Take time in the backyard
The box is whistling at you
Then you are at the veranda
The box comes to pinch you
Take refuge in the bedroom
There it comes with red mouth
You roll away to carpet floor
It rushes to suck blood for dinner
As you liked it you brought it
Now as it likes it you give
The box of flesh has become
A box full of untold fairy tales...

Premium Member Too Gorgeous To Be Real
The dining room stopped talking when she entered.
It was mostly men. The ones who were not staring, probably wanted to.
She was dressed from crown to toes in purple.
And she looked amazing.

There was a dazzling quintessential aura about her.
I could feel it, and I am not a man.
I could not imagine how a man would feel.
Was she a model? Movie star? Celebrity?
Too gorgeous to be real, and yet she was....

Premium Member No One's Favorite Color
I can't think of anything duller
than brown, no one's favorite color

Who wears a brown-colored suit
Must be a curmudgeony old coot

Search high and low for slacks that are brown
You won't find them in any store in town

And when did you last see a fine brown hat?
---on a soldier for camouflage in the midst of combat?

Yet when selecting a new dining room set
Deep, rich brown is your very best bet...

Strangeness
In the dining room
I see strange people
At my table
Always
Even if my cat is awake
My wife serves crab soup
my daughter does home work
my neighbor reads Ramayana
Sky is serene
no smoke not a ghost
no prehistoric emotions
Or paranormal scenes
At least there should not be
Any bad dreams
I am foolish they say
I must go to a psychiatrist
But I am scared of strangeness
the nowhere people bring
At my dinning table...

Military Matrimony Yoke

You can beat me up,
Send me to Malaysia for treatment,
I was on business, I will tell them
When I am back,
Business is good.

I have soldiers living
In my dining room,
Roaming my garden
Peeing in my swimming pool,
You placed them there,
The courts cannot take them out.

You walked out on me,
Never talked to me;
Married a twenty year old
The newspaper says,
You threatened to kill me,
Your hand is my danger.

Premium Member She Doesn'T Know She's a Dog
Her name is Apogee Sausalito,
she is tiny, feisty and black;
when she romps with Tricia,
she thinks she's a cat.

The crafty feline hides
on the dining room chair;
'round and 'round the table,
the dog circles her there.

Behind the tablecloth,
the cat keeps watch;
reaches out with her paw,
and gives S'Lito a swat.

It's a game they both love;
each day's regular routine,
we enjoy their frisky antics
with morning coffee and cream....

Biriani
Rice soaked and yellowed
in steaming, spiced curry
dance around the cooking bowl,
as they collide with chicken legs
and thighs once in a while...

My family sits around the table,
with anticipation visible
with their salivation. They can
smell a Swahili cuisine
from the dining room.

Patiently,
I wait for stew above the rice
to disappear,
then I give the green light
with sounds of cutlery
and wine glasses....

Premium Member Cats and Books
Cats and books, books and cats.
She got some looks, well look at that!
They were stacked in the kitchen,
The living room and dining room too.
They soon were in the trees outside,
For the house they had over-grew.
Cats and books, books and cats.
She could cuddle with any and that’s a fact.
She was happy for all of her natural days.
Between her and her books, a cat always lays.
Cats and books, books and cats.
Delightful life for her and that’s a fact!...

Alone
I sit here at the table, staring hopelessly at the slow-ticking time that hauntingly hangs on
the wall in front of me. It mocks me with numbers as the hand itself speaks, "He's an hour
late tonight". Dinner that was freshly made turned dry and cold as the center candle
flickered dim. The smell of food danced around the dining room, while I took no taste to my
tongue. I placed my heart on the cloth of this table, you retrieve me nothing but loneliness....

Pathetic Day
My morning starts with leaves from a tree
falling on my bed, through my open
bedroom window - I feel as though I could use
a chainsaw now!

My afternoon commences with sharp noises from spoons
and butter knives falling on the shelves - my
fingers tremble with rage as I search for contacts
for animal control, to take my cat away from my kitchen!

My dinner hour begins a leak on the roof of my dining room-
I wonder whether God is punishing me for being grumpy....

Abstraction of War
I crept cautiously down the stairs, I looked at my watch, it was almost 6:30, dinnertime. My heart began to beat quickly, my chest filled with dread. I tiptoed to my place at the table. I kept my eyes down, looking at my hands, not saying a word. My dad entered the dining room; he sat down hard in his chair, his battle face on. My mother slammed a pot of food on the table, daggers in her eyes directed at dad. In some home meal times are called dinner; in my home it means war....
