Biriani

Rice soaked and yellowed
in steaming, spiced curry
dance around the cooking bowl,
as they collide with chicken legs
and thighs once in a while...

My family sits around the table,
with anticipation visible
with their salivation. They can
smell a Swahili cuisine
from the dining room.

Patiently,
I wait for stew above the rice
to disappear,
then I give the green light
with sounds of cutlery
and wine glasses....

MMMMMM I can almost smell it from here Teddy - I love curry as long as it is not too spicy/hot - I even went to night school many years ago and did a 10 week course :-) hugs Jan xx

Teddy, just finished my nightly curry bowl! this week I nearly finished my alternate version with Native Harvested Wild Rice from Northern Minnesota near Lake Superior! often, I utilize Goat Meat as my chosen protein, with fresh ginger, turmeric & habaneros! My daughter gave me Garam Masala she brought back from India & fresh Cinnamon Bark! I cook my brown or wild rice with this heavenly flavor! jimbo

Hi James. I'm glad to know someone who enjoys sumptuous meals with spices!!! Next time, please tell your daughter to bring you grounded cloves and garlic!! ;-)
