The Abyss

How blissful it is to live in the abyss.
Unaware, insouciant of the world around,
Tormented are the empaths in the desensitized world,
Who are to their earthly senses bound.

Mesmerize Us

Americans today are quite polarized
All we do is complain and criticize
The rhetoric ramping ever upward, uncivilized
The ranting and the raving has us desensitized

We sorely need something to mobilize us
An event to overwhelm and mesmerize us
E.T., please come back to Earth and hypnotize us
Leave us not to our own devices...

Accountability

In this world of sin and shame,
It's hard to know who is to blame.

We become desensitized,
To the evil on the rise.

Those beliefs we know are wrong,
Are lived daily among the throngs.

Is there no end to hate and greed?
What will it take to follow God's lead.

If there is evil and I give it no name,
Than it is I who is to blame.

In Fields of Grey

Like a wild flower in the rain
Sometimes you get desensitized
By the company you keep
And you forget to be a genuine person

Just like the arms you lie within
Your body cannot do without a warm touch
Driblets, a breeze, triplets
It was all a spring time hush

Like a wild flower
I saw you making hail in the rain
And I won’t carry through my days
Without you by my side

Sticks and Stones

We are desensitized
We are lost
We watch as others die
We laugh at others hurt
We cry if we don’t get our way
We kill and pierce with our words
And when others mock us
We quote—
“sticks and stones may break our bones
But yours words will never hurt us”
In reality they break our souls
And haunt our conscience
For words are sharper and more harmful
Than any fading bruise.

Brainwashism

Desensitized
from the world'd murky underbelly
self mutilate your soul
free your mind
serve the masses to the wolves
controlled by greedy mercenaries
hungry for power
society corrupted by corporate logos
brainwashed to purchase the goods
materialism to the very core
money equals power
equals corruption
billions spent on warfare
kill to make that green
evil has no borders

Obscurity

So silent yet deafening sounds
How can I get my mind to stop
Yearning for a spec of peace
Wherever I look, noise is found.

All I can think is how to focus
Focusing on keeping concentrated
But deep inked parchment all around
Keeps my subconscious afloat

Every minute, every second
Keeps speeding up to deadlines
I am still unprepared, wondering
When did I get desensitized.?

Stranger

Listen to poem:
The flash of fear I feel
at passing darkened windows
or dim-lit mirrors comes
when I observe, reflected,
a stranger in my clothes
(or skin) and think:
is this the me
that other people see?
This ghostly image
that I know cannot be me?
Though its actions correspond
to those I take
in shaving, bathing,
wielding cans of aerosol,
surely I would recognize
this jaded, aging,
desensitized distraction
that the world
mistakes
for me.

Analgesia

I come back to these scribbles
jotted down in broken verse
   of when I felt.
When my body burned with passion and rage
when my loins ached or my heart broke.

Revisiting the epoch of life
trying to re-assemble the shape of those energies.

Yet I am still numb.

Apathetic and drifting on analgesia
the medicine my hysterias sought.

Humanity leached into distance and fugue.
Desensitized to the state of existence.
I cease to be me.

Its a Cookbook

These are the days of ambient light
Where speech is bastardised into winking icons
Where binary money buys the next upgrade
Sunlight seen through a man made lens
Imagination imprisoned on the net
Our lives the library books of an electric race
Relationships ripped on live tv
We are the desensitized generation
The qwerty kings and queens
all the answers a finger tip away
We are humanity trapped within the world wide web
And the internet is never appeased

Too Much

Too Much

Marginalized
Masochistic & Meretricious
Deaf, dumb, and desensitized
These roads are haunted
We become Superstitious
As the hills grow eyes

These actions have consequences
An open mouth full of flies
The putrid smell overwhelms the senses
Fervently escape your time to die.

These are the destined of the masses
They will not rest in their graves
A pandemic, global panic, supply stashes
Spreading terror with their mutant plague.

Dreams Deferred

Dreams Deferred
My Dreams have always been to travel around the globe.
Dreams Deferred? Perhaps

My dream is to possibly become an author, second-guessing and duped. Dreams Deferred? Perhaps

Unguarded decisions, false evidence appears real. Dreams
Deferred? Perhaps

Guilty by association, recognized toxic faces, unaccustomed places, I'm at a crossroads. Dreams
Deferred? Perhaps

Trust shattered yet my heart has not desensitized. Dreams
Deferred? Perhaps
