Be careful with words you intone,
because words have lives of their own.
Words overblown, relayed on the phone,
words in harsh tones that jolt, stun and depose,
and shock us with what they disclose.
From compose, comes composition
From suppose, supposition
From depose, deposition
From dispose, disposition
From oppose, opposition
From repose, reposition
From propose …
Silence is a monk
in a mountain
of deep
In meditation
Of heart
Silence is a water
In drench
In dream
Silence in his talk
whispering
within sough
Silence is a monk
In crystal
secret in depose
in his heart
Form:
He spoke... as she turned him away
“Let this a rosy day be”...
The intent, known not, was to warn
for to him, not a rose had been she
To pluck a rose midst the bush
plays possibly a thorny prick
reasoning not for the fragrance,
only relishing pain’s piquant nick
Advancement bold, brings retreat
Egos succumb to depose
No cad, but a ‘gentleman’s’ hand
Could offer a redolent rose
I took health for granted,
my youth like a rose
To bloom in the present,
till thorns would depose
Attacking my body,
invading my mind
The sleep I’d grown used to,
much harder to find
Not a cold or a fever
for so many a year
No matter the weather,
with nothing to fear
But time is recalling
its card worn and thin
Infirmity threatens
—death budding within
(Villanova Pennsylvania: October, 2020)
So many feathered friends,
in the tree tops this cool
morning, wrens, sparrows, robins,
and red winged blackbirds.
They have all gathered
here to protest what
man has done to
Lowell ponds.
Trash and fireworks debris
everywhere you look, fireworks
oh so loud, really bothers them,
nature here should have peace.
How would someone feel,
if people used their yard
for a place to depose
of their trash.
