Drones

Slick drones took over the air
Deliveries from amazon wear
Zap shots at the door
Customers fell to the floor
They wanted a tip for their fare

Premium Member Differences

Buzzed by a butterfly
on its daily duties.
Passed by a FedEx truck
completing its deliveries.
I've grown so dam old that
differences are only memories.

Premium Member Not From Santa

Kids the world over ceased believing in Santa Claus
Worshipping Amazon they put Big Red on pause
Stirred by the blue truck instead
Toys—never coal never lead
Deliveries insured, reindeer lack a cause

Dusted with magic the good children await
Like Twitter it’s the end of Amazon‘s fate
Gifts stolen, or lost, kids are sad
Thinking twice about being bad
Laughing all the way, Big Red can’t stay irate

Premium Member boxes are for burning

We get approximately three boxes a day in deliveries
My husband is the ultimate order-machine
He takes more stuff back than most people order
I am sure UPS knows his name now

These boxes stack up on couches, the back of a bookshelf,
Beds, chairs, tables, and other not-for-boxes-places
When I get tired of them, I burn them in a huge bonfire
I love this part of the boxes the best, thus I encourage these orders.

These days, deliveries can be made by a drone. I hate it whenever a machine answers a phone. They call it another advance step in automation. The only thing I consider it is an abomination. Now they have computers calling people pertinaciously. That is really something that has been annoying me. How much clearer can I make it by replying "no"? Why don't they give all these blighters the heave-ho?

God On Day Release

Thin black man
Yiou touched my heart, delivering my parcels
Thin black man from Trinidad
Not smug and conceited in a grey suit
Still polite because your ancestors were slaves
Who could be kicked or even killed
Yet in you it seems a virtue
Creating space for grace
Or for evil.
I’d like to hold your arm and talk
But you’re running off
More deliveries
Good you have a job
Hope all goes well for you
Smiling face like God on day release

Parisian Night

Parisian nights magical made for hand in hand walking
Along the light sparkling Seine,
Across bridges running to old left bank enclaves
Magic nights soft city lights
Footsteps echo into alleys
Taxis purr catlike in misty morning dew
Who walks in these early hours just before dawn?
Bakers rolling croissants, freshly baking
Deliveries of flowers, papers, breads
All in sleepy just light …
You and I, hand in hand, find our way home
Under flowering purple trees

Down the Road Apiece

Downtown dead weight
Hurled like a heavy piece of irony
Specks of sometimes riding shotgun
Blankets of stars that never sleep

Upheaval and missions of monsters
World gone wrong messages
Edging ever closer to weary
Sometimes a great notion

Readiness and tangible freedom
Waxing moons breathing shallow
Deliveries to empty doorsteps
Time again and again

Forward the motion in prayer
Forlorn and high like a kite
Innocence dressed immaculate
Down the road apiece
