First Blush

First Blush

 hot blush warms stunned petals

torrid sweetness of dews kiss

cooled in daybreaks orange heat

patient lips - too soon denied

The Song

In daybreaks glow
Whispers of a new day
A sleeping world stirs
Act one of the play

And I sing
Off key
And made up words

To the first birds
Who answer in kind
With tones much sweeter
Than I may find

DAWN

Dawn
Weakly
Tweaks the curve
Its chilly yawn
Turns off the street lights
As darkness returns home
Sparrows sing morning vespers
A coffee scented mist rises
Silently swirling atop the mug
Daybreaks pheromonal invitation

Triolet:Eve

The Eve has rendered her gentle skit
And covered blooms hidden from view.
The moonlit moths perform their flit,
The Eve has rendered her gentle skit.
Squirrels and rabbits trample swits
And wait for daybreaks morning dew
The Eve has rendered her gentle skit
And covered blooms hidden from view.

Inspired By Nature

~~~ by Francine Roberts~~~
                 26/07/2011
I begin with ideas brought by nature. Nature fills me with sweet serenity. It is my poetry's inspiration. Sunsets, daybreaks, waterfalls bring me joy.
Ode To Dawn
A breath is drawn, as morning dawns
the flute, to lips, does rise
mellow notes echo ‘round
as sunlight streaks the skies
Night shadows fade, dim canyon walls
glow purple, red and pink
dulcet tones cascading
for thirsty souls to drink
Daybreaks first blush, a dewy kiss
arouse a sleepy world
harmony meets horizon
the sunrise has unfurled
I Bought You a Dream
I told the mosquitoes
to stay away
And  i told the fire flies
to hold the lights till daybreaks
I told the song bird
to sing all night
a perfect lullaby
And i told the crickets
to keep their voices down
I bought you a dream tonight
It's beneath your pillow
Sleep early
Don't miss out the best part
Dream dream dream
Dream all night
Dream big my love
crescent moon
"When both birds call simultaneously, it might simply be a coincidence of nature, but it can also be interpreted through the lens of folklore as a moment filled with spiritual significance or a sign of impending change."
crescent moon's sliver lies upon a small gray cloud.... while whip-poor-will sings barnyard owl replies answer as daybreaks 'pon horizon
Crimes of Passion
Razorblade drapes cracked daybreaks’ neck,
Crooked arm beneath her face,
She reclined dove quiet,
Conscience dwelt, guilt-ridden waves
Amidst the silk and lace.
Roared a solemn riot,
A lump caught in my throat, gorging brimstone,
The noose tightened,
Throttled tears of eyelid fashion.
Sneaking on my winter coat, wore Judas fear,
Brooding cold and frightened
Carried home my crimes of passion.
Snooze Alarm
Streetlights flicker in daybreaks doubt.
Grayish clouds mope lazily.
Sunrise smirks at the early risers.
Dewdrops dangle on yellowed leaves.
A cat shakes his wet paws.
Robins wrangle chilled worms.
A squirrel maps his acorn field.
Frail winds stifle the hawk’s wings.
Late bloomers shiver in the sun’s lie.
School bus stops chatter.
The old dog yawns and looks at the door.
State of Mind
State of Mind
Sitting here wondering why,
we have daybreaks
before we see the light.
Sitting here wondering why,
the poor are sick,
and what's the government
trying to hide.
Sitting here wondering why,
God takes the good ones
and
leave the bad to survive.
Sitting here wondering why,
we have to kill thousands
just to get one man
alive.
Sitting here wondering why,
I wrote this poem
and
how it made me cry.
Dawn's Darkness
And thus it seems
That all my dreams
Were not but foiled
Twisted schemes
Betrayed by daybreaks
Lying light
Disguised
As memories
Less bright
And yet the darkness
Does pervade
My troubled dreams
When on parade
And truth it seems
Has lost its edge
As its wingless
offspring fledge
For there are moments
That I dread
Moments rewritten
In my head
Troubled attempts
To now erase
The truths I know
Yet cannot face
Waking, Upon A Spring Morning
Clouds drift Sun Lifts Minds slumber, peacefully adrift Birds sing Bells ring A quiet morning in the spring Blue skies Mind’s Eye Takes it all in to clarify What’s This All This Is there anything still to miss These days Always Infinite things to do and say But Still Dawn will Bring back a grand new morning’s thrill Daybreaks I wake With brand new paths that I might take --by ThoughtsFromB4
Autumnal Colour Show
The most splendid of the Earth’s colour shows,
Sparkling like rubies, with the sunset it glows.
Speckled with red, green, yellow and pink,
Only for few months do these colours link.
Almost like a large fire that makes one fear:
From high mountains to the banks of the pier.
It shifts colours: gold as light when daybreaks,
But redder than blood as twilight takes place.
This show of colour almost made us forget,
The white queen, whom will next be met.
