Those college kids sure get excited when they win
    while their professional counterparts barely grin
      ~ although they do get rich as sin

The Painter of Trees

Observing carefully the details
The painter of trees
Taking notice of tree shadows
More elongated than their

Counterparts - whether it be
Light of the Sun - or Moon
The painter of trees
Brushing strokes accordingly

A lady from the Heain court
Did rather more than she ought
Astounding her male counterparts-
With her creative mind
Wrote the first book of its kind

Lady Murasaki authored one of the worlds's first novels 'Tale of Genji (1002)

Love on the Run

A touch too close and a gaze too sincere,
Was the Jenga player about to pull an upset loss?
Faulty by design, promise and execution

Does a good love need time to catch its breath?
Or does it weave long exhales into conversational counterparts?

Deprived Nigerian Child

Slowly he rolls the tyre,
to and fro,
with his pants on,
Laughing with his other
counterparts,
His dirty pants,
Shown in the noon,
Like a rag,
He saw his mother,
And shouted,
Mother!
Where is my father?
Where did he go?
when will he come back?
When will i wear a shirt?
When will i sleep on a bed?
When will there be light?
Where will there be water
from our taps?

With My Red Dress On

A radiantly coiffed bouffant was mine,
    fit perfectly and curved to the nines.
I stood taking in the awe of counterparts
   let them eat cake I chuckled in my heart.
The spring roll rumbling in my center
   drifted to the lower parts no longer indentured.
I held my breath and prayed
   that no sound or scent would stray
I wanted to drop to my knees
  Oh God, please, don’t let me sneeze.

Alone

And so it is
The painted sun has cast its shadow
On my waiting, lonely earth
As the moon breaks through
The darkened sky
To take refuge
Among its counterparts
While tears dry at my feet
I stand amidst a tidal flood of emotion and
Alone, looking to the sky
My heart seems to be void
As my mind is filled with thought
Dreaming of the echoes of reverberation
When love enters the boundaries
Of earth and time

Premium Member Come the Fall

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Winters' suitors never earned
cozen for their sacrifice
Love accepted, not returned,
frozen trophies kept on ice
Counterparts once jailed are freed,
gone to fairer girls of spring
Hearts disposed now those I need
So begins my reckoning
Puerile Moon rules Scorpio
fools of summer disenthrall,
swooning cools to vertigo
Who will love me come the fall?
Colors
Colors
Is there is a palette
on which the balance
of the additive colors
in our world
are in harmony with
their subtractive counterparts?
Where the sharp
divisions of conflict
are blurred with pastels
that melt away
the fear and trauma
with smooth indelible strokes
of human color
that can never fade?
Alas, if not
then our world
shall always be
a shattered sphere conflicted
by shards of black and white.
