Higgledy-Piggledy,
Young Dr. Frankenstein.
thought he was able to
cook up a man.
baking and broiling and
incomprehensible
things to invent such a
Frankenstein plan.

Trump Cook Up Trouble
While lying in bed would bring a book;
At picture on cover did look and look;
Wondered who,
And if I knew;
Turned out being Trump who is a crook.

Man From Nice
There was an old man from Nice
He could not cook up some rice
His sister fell ill
Then took a spill
Too bad they can not play dice.

Limerick
It’s a constant reminder
I’m giving my days
We cook up our meals
Forgetting who pays
Walk in the yard
Or to sit on the bleacher
Reading a good book
Or hearing a teacher
We all spend our days
In different ways
Honest in prayer
Treat each day like air

The way to cook up a good Limerick
Is to add the right words, then simmer it
But if it begets raunch
That’s unfit for your paunch
Then I wouldn’t touch it for dinner, ick!
-and for dessert-
My gal loves to make Limerick-sicles
On very hot days to be whimsical
But the more we licked
The hotter it git
And often it’d even get critical.

Life is so busy sometimes
With places to go and meals to prepare.
Princess looks dejected wanting a lap upon which to recline.
Sorry girl but cornbread demands making
And potatoes need mashing and greens need attention to cook up just fine..
Maybe later or sometimes tomorrow upon my lap you can lie.
We will listen to music and watch the world go by..

Heat a little nagging thought
and throw it in the pot.
Mix it well with several words,
the ones you use a lot.
Add a little common sense
to spice it up a bit
then let it simmer gently
until the words all fit.
If it seems a little thin
then thicken it with rhyme
until it flows quite smoothly
as you cook up each line.
Then put in personality
to show who was the chef
and hope that your new Poetry Soup
is not an Eaton Mess!

More pans to wash …
More pans to wash!!!
They come umpteen times a day.
My hands are chapped,
My back is crook’d
I wish they’d go away.
But when they’re dry and shiny, sitting neatly on their shelves
My thoughts can turn to what comes next -
Some tasty treat, no longer vexed
I now ‘create; and undertake
Pie, bun, roast a glorious cake?
Foods to soothe the ravening beasts
My pans cook up some wondrous feasts.

Light Verse
Though subtle, at times it seems,
I do hold you in high esteem.
I really try to do my best
To satisfy all your needs.
I respect you,
And I support the path that you lead
You'll never have to worry about
Me trying to cook up a scheme
With an ulterior motive
To exploit and demean
I understand loyalty
And that we play on the same team
My ambition is to please
And never to compete
Competition may win for one,
But will destroy the "we".

I like hamburgs and hotdogs.
I even like a brat.
At cookouts it don't matter...
Just cook up what you've got.
I don't mind getting dirty.
My shoes won't stay on long.
Don't let me see you cover your ears
while I sing my favorite song.
I like to fish with live bait.
I just prefer the worms.
You'll never hear me hollar
when it wriggles and it squirms.
I'm just a natural lady.
I live with mother earth.
My family says I'm normal...
for what their opinion's worth!

I do not know?
Do the dishes, sweep the floor,
Clean the windows, fix the door.
Study your math, practice the flute,
Water the plant, and sew your boot.
Wash your T-shirt, take out the trash,
Go buy some fruit, but first find some cash.
Email your teachers, fix the toaster,
Wipe the table, make a science fair poster.
Finish your project, practice your song,
Make sure no answers on the homework are wrong.
Go play piano, cook up some dinner,
Don’t forget to be the science fair winner.
