Clipped Parrots
With notes shredding ears homicidal,
contestants squawk madly to sidle
despite what they lack
they keep flocking back
to die on American Idol....

Contests are quite a too do on PoetrySoup
if contestants must jump through a hoop
an N/A just means place not awarded
nothing more nor less is intended...

Gwen's Contest
Gwen’s contest sure gave me lots of trouble,
The entries made me laugh on the double,
As I have a cold
I laughed, cried and rolled,
Until alas, I blew a snot bubble!

Thanks to Gwen and all you contestants for the entertainment! Loved this contest!...

Premium Member Big Points On the Line
Judges get a lot of credit
with the aid of a prompt
they offer motivation
they provide inspiration
and reward dedication

Contestants rush in
to show off their skills
when offered points
high hopes for honors
of a podium finish

Premium Member Alphabet Soup
I'm leaving my soup,

I've had my fill,

one more slurp,

and I'll fall ill,

ran out of letters,

can't spell a word,

(so I've heard)

like jeopardy,

the wheel it spins,

some contestants,

never win,

with much contrite,

and my last bite,

I swallow words,

already ingested....

Olympic Games
The Olympics is where the worlds best,
athletes get together,
for the ultimate test.
Sixteen days, where young and old,
watch the contestants striving,
to gain a medal of gold.
All races, colours, and creeds, together as one,
forgetting all national differences,
by participating, and having fun.

inhaling pure helium

the contestants were giggling

pursed their lips blew for first prize

save ozone layer from holes

shield us from the scorching sun

bubble gum chewing award

suckers and blowers unite

together everyone wins

Beauty Queens
Near Abu Dhabi, beauty queens
Must have expressive eyes.
Their droopy lips and shapely humps
Might help them earn a prize.

The competition’s very fierce;
Big bucks are the reward.
Contestants, in the thousands,
Strut around, appearing bored.

The winners, wearing necklaces
Designed to look like gold,
Bring honor to their owners
Right before each camel’s sold....

Fight
For what you're waiting?
Are you expecting the failure of all your competeters
So that you can win
Or are you in the thought of a miracle that going to happen is the death of all your co-contestants
No victory is real if you won just because you're the only participant
So never expect everyone to leave the show
Fight with them and raise the cup
Be the fire that burns but give lights to all...

Canine, incisor, molar to.
What are all three? I’m looking at you.
One hundred thousand dollars up for grabs
Ellen is waiting showing her abs
Dogs teeth, teeth dogs, dogs the woman guesses.
Man gets a chance to steal. Dogs? He professes.
That’s great! His wife yells, happy as a lark.
Great in what world? All three in the dark.
It is teeth, Ellen announces. The audience laughs.
Everyone else there sees both contestants are daft....
