North Pole Suit

Rudolph Valentino could feel
A new woman in every reel
Santa's reindeer
Is not a steer!
A chafed nose is just a raw deal!

We Are Boxes of Matches

We are boxes of matches,
Some crammed with chances,
Some rattle th last few,
Some too chafed to spark a new flame,
Some crumbled with th rain,

My last matchstick,
I want to strike it for you.

Adrift

How chafed the foot bereft of sole,
when unshod thoughts meet splintered floor.
Known terra firma drifts from whole,
as reason loses sight of shore.

Tree

I hear the loosened bark
nestled and chafed beneath

the whispers of dark sultry
sweet brown maple pouring

from within the silent rings
of where life began forming

a solid equator around
the greek body of my wretched

soul covered in white cloth
awaiting your docile subtle arrival

Sea Change

Its quest is over.
Life's. Wholesome-faced.
At this drop off point, a world's
Sea-washed. Effaced.

Shackled by which search, a slave's
Profitless, for coin
Proved it, toward more and more
Becoming joy-rich
Now breathing freer, will ditch
What for too long chafed
Of self deceit, to the winds.
Sharpest thought-cleansing

Be Happy! (To My Friend Ira)

To My Friend Ira

You must forget

that we had bad luck!

We chafed our own wounds.

Inhale Spring!

Be happy

in spite of troubles,

because Winter

has finished for us.

Quickly buy a bouquet of snowdrops,

and at your home, prepare

a few different flavors of ice cream,

sprinkle them with raisins!

Ah! What a dessert!

It is medicine

for depression and trouble!

Enjoy!

The Barbarians

A lovely face with a gorgeous height,
Nibbles the straw with its bemused delight,
Chafed palpitation in bewilderment,
Ticks disaster reeking of harassment;

Look away and miss those voluptuous joints,
Fine lingerie upsets the veiled data points,
Tattoo figures in barbarian flanks,
Badgered innocence and I muse for ranks.

In her feline moves watch for the gait;
Never burn fingers when you see her bait.

Lover's Script

too many in this room
open the window so I can breath
it's time for me to go
watch me pack and leave

the message that is clear
I can't embrace it all
written in lover's script
flowing across the wall

I need to find the key
to release me from this chain
the skin that now is chafed
a mark that causes pain

close the door behind you
don't even leave a crack
let me slip away
instead of pulling me back

High-Wire Walk

The tight-rope of salvation
Is a straining, wire-taut strand
You inch along on foot-chafed trepidation
Defying Satan’s law of gravitation,
God’s balance-pole inside your hand.

Below, the audience is cheering,
Your equipoise of faith precludes all fearing—
Your toes assert their knowing, nimble grasp.
The platform, once so far, now’s nearing.
Step upon it! Crowd gives out a gasp—
Satan curses with a hoarse and rueful rasp.

Top Secret

The redwoods’ fairy ring, wall in a family secret
Only, not all roots dig as deep…
Parched, some shrivel, loosening the circlet

Shush….the tallest ones whisper steep
Elegance alas, the needy ones, have lost…
Chafed, bitter barks scatter cones they can’t keep

Raging fires sear heartwood of dearest cost
Enduring burns gape trunk-wide scars…
The remnant wall shrinks tauter, visible as vapored frost

Tune Trek

Brusque the evening tide had dawned

As music roared across the scene

A billow of zeal subtly spawned

Forlorn a spirit quite so keen

Chafed be our bodies swayed in tune

Carefree the night swept us away

From our skins perspired monsoons

Whilst new passion sauntered astray

Mouth to mouth revelations speak

To the cadence our hearts detoured

Across the sky sunrise had streaked

Lovestruck we both remained unsure

For Memory

Our minds like leaves
Fall in brown and gold
Flickered green light
Before winds changed the old
Peel of skin
To dry lignin.
Thoughts sloughed and chafed
To hold a name in the safe
Crutch of a swaying branch;
The proper term
For things in the discourse of disciplines
Or a shifting season
That make the deep sap
Flows sluggish, and stop
The loquacious tongue.
Youth is past.
Memory is a leaf
It turns in the Fall.
Gravity touches everything with grief.

Iraq

you enter into my innermost calmness
chafed naught a crawling grapevine
and speared mustered seeds I'd beckoned
your tenderness your infamous timely
sorted kisses morbidly missed over time
driving over gravel searching for hidden
scents of blushing rosebuds that catered
to my senses why I'd explored your shyness
that emptied my kindness beyond a darkened
cave a sinking floor causing me to blush
beneath the mauve sky hidden
along Baghdad's humble shoreline
