Adrift

How chafed the foot bereft of sole,
when unshod thoughts meet splintered floor.
Known terra firma drifts from whole,
as reason loses sight of shore.

I need to make myself more familiar with your work, David, (I apologize for that), as this is just exquisite writing and very intelligent in depth and phrasing - superb! Congrats on 4th place in a VERY close contest! :o)
