There was this week a Supermoon
The sky lit by its color of burnt umber
I was eclipsed from this awesome sight
Racked and tired, I was in slumber.

Strong coffee
bitter in its drip
black and hot slow sips,
aroma enhanced
aged on the tongue umami
delightful and indulgent tsunami,
a caffeine high
waking from the midnight dark
to morning wide-eyed sparks,
coffee
a burnt umber brew
greeting every day anew.
The fragrance of a memory
From childhood long ago
I’m brought back
To a fenced in backyard
Crayola blue sky
Burnt umber ground
Islands of green and yellow grass
The scent of Summer Hill wafts
As the unseen is revealed
A dream remembered then forgotten
You say it didn't happen
I recollect the aroma that says it did

for much more
