Then scattering across the rug bound floor
Where they took up new residence.

Those left in the bookshelf
started to rock back and forth
hoping to join the colonials on the floor....

Argue with January’s chill
Needling her about her coldness.
Upstart prisoners plotting a breakout
Always alert to a break in her façade
Resist complacency’s weakness
Yearn to mimic the sun’s majesty.

If by accident, they occasionally
come near to any kind of truth
they tend to breakout in hives,
or shake uncontrollably.

We shouldn’t expect them to be truthful,
it’s asking too much.
Would we demand a dog
cook its own dinner,
or a pickpocket play a glockenspiel
while lifting a wallet?

Mostly and quite contrarily,
we condemn the author
for having lied
a whole lot better
than we ever could have....

Of some of us exist remains
Of early traumas, tucked away
And if we’re lucky, there they’ll stay.

Yet if we aren’t, they’ll sneak through
And possibly provide a clue
To why some triggers make us snap
As if we’ve stumbled on a trap.

To call that bottled genie’s bluff

Hollow clap surrenders a sparked ribboning,
Escapees breakout from their misty cells,
Wakes of earthen prints puddling,
Harbored ills bade sanctuary,
A glassy millpond beholds the begotten,
Abrupt warming tempts the absence,
Stirred tea sweetly idling,
An archer colorfully tools the realm,
Directives wondering,
Vibrant life answering,
A stranger to loneliness,
