Ruth Shall Make You Free

Americans come by the clock
A British lass just hikes her frock
The French love a tongue
The Swedes like well-hung
But Left or Right Thai knows Bangkok!

Sad Detritus It In Eight

Sad Detritus It In Eight

Sam Adams looked back
at the lost loves
Failed opportunities
And monolithic blues
That he concluded
Was the sad detritus of his life.
He sighed and went out
To the Cosmos bar for another drink.

In a Bangkok dry cleaners window, “Drop your trousers here” But they get lots of curious people with nothing to clean I fear Takes all kinds it seems Making up the world's scene But this takes the cake or maybe I just misheared

It has been diagnosed by all the leading “hugs” docs That a hug a day makes us live an extra year by the clock But only certain kinds, it's hard to believe Gonna really try em all before I leave Extra squeezie ones, however, are known to cause death in Bangkok

A Far Cry

A Far Cry

A far cry from home
A man sat drinking
Up a storm
2o drinks too sober

Down on his luck
Living by his wits
Down and out

On the street
Of fabled Bangkok
Just another loser

Flotsam white boy
Lost in inner space

Out of his mind
Dreaming dark dreams

As he continued to drink
A far cry from home

Land of the Free (Base)

Thailand,
Or Kensington?
Tinfoil from a Kit-Kat,
Tells you that there’s no difference,
Outside,

Cocaine,
Ammonia,
Old Martell miniature,
A Bic lighter; a mound of ash,
Bangkok?

Fly south
Like Garuda,
Drift off to Koh Samui,
A Beach house, Or Council estate?
Who cares?

Wake up,
Burnt down candles,
Landlord on the doorstep
‘Last weeks rent?’ ‘Giro on Thursday…
…Get lost…’

You promised me
New Zealand
in the springtime
virgin beaches
mountain air
loving
day and night
without a care

and then you were gone

your lies
were to immense
on both sides
of the ocean
when you walk
the streets of Bangkok
does your heart
still yearn for me?

On the day you left

you told me to swim
to the surface
to come back up for air
but I cannot
I cannot
I cannot
I am still drowning
in my sorrow
