something spat her out
into the backwaters again
was it those devilish chemicals
carving blueness into her being
did she absorb the black ways and moods of creek cold people
does she wear the hungry battles of the world
hang them on her tiny shoulders
she's strong as the tide
she'll snap out of it
like a sprig beneath a stone
return to the ocean
self stroke her conch
from deep blue to violent pink
bloom once again
