Janet

Jubilant with clarity in motion
Atoned in descent whiff
Nested with magnificent truth
Eclipsed at heart, soul and mind
True amongst earthly beauties

I Dub Thee

Being self-titled
aristocrat pure
Heraldry solemn
 liege a du jour

Knighted in fealty
 loyalty’s throne
Crusading triumphant
—honor atoned

A Diamond Mined

Reducing a book
down to one chapter

Reducing that chapter
to a paragraph honed

Reducing that paragraph
to one lasting sentence

Reducing that sentence
 to a word
— truth atoned

The Good Fight

Lord, lead me a life to be atoned
I hope and I pray I do not end up alone

Humble me now before I am dead
Give me the strength to live as it was said

Command me now to walk in the light
For it is through you I can win the good fight

Extempo

He was vulnerable
 only in the present
The past and future self-deposed
their fantasies atoned
Moments claim unto themselves
a singular refluence
Strength unnumbered past the count
—battle lines rezoned

Forever With Christ

lamb
slain
His blood
for my sins
perfect sacrifice
Jesus took my place on a cross
His righteousness atoned for sins of all who believe
what eternal, joyous celebration, reunited forever with Christ, our Lord

Last Vial

Draining all there was to say,
he hemorrhaged one more poem
Last vial of his history,
whose burden now atoned

With final drops to say adieu,
the past and future dead
His last tomorrow here today
—and time no longer bled

My Heart To Rest

While not belonging anywhere,
beholden then to none

I spread me seeds upon the land,
and let my spirit run

I cast my lot into the air,
direction, fate be known

And far beyond prevailing winds
—my heart to rest atoned

My Heart Now Rests

While not belonging anywhere,
  beholden then to none

I spread me seeds upon the land,
  I let my spirit run

I cast my lot into the air,
  direction fate be known

And far beyond prevailing winds,
 —my heart now rests atoned

All Too Human

What good will it do you
To dwell on all you've done.

When will you realize,
You atoned the moment you opened your eyes.

What now matters most,
Is letting go of what was once your sorrow's host.

When will you see, how you've been feeling
Just means you're all too human, darling.

The mystery of you

when we're together holding hands
and in a world completely of our own
the tenderness I feel for you
outshines the moon and sun

it's in the way you fill my heart
with caring warmth and goodness
i savour the virtue and integrity
of a soul that's sweepingly atoned

and that gentleness is all the sweeter

Free and Atoned

The truth came flying out of the mirror,
  its reflection veracious and new

And left without warning, my emptiness torn,
heading back to a place out of view

Driving into my eyes an image so clear,
its talon’s spread open and honed

But on wings of silver, it returned fulfilled,
  my spirit soaring—free and atoned

Aretha

Once she performed it
she made it her own
With joy we all listened
and marveled atoned

Endowed from the heavens
the Angels in awe
Her spirit celestial
your nerve endings raw

A voice for all seasons
Grand Madam of sound
To search for a lifetime
her like never found

While crossing each genre
she made time a slave
Her stylings eternal
— a gift heaven gave

Soul Over Body

Worry, impels you
Faster now, to the grave
If we don't take this shell
Why attach such importance
to its tribulations
The soul rises above
Its existence
Taking lessons
Not finer details

Our bodies are collateral
Sacrifices, to the reality
Of after life
Our time here
Is the heaven and hell
Based on moral choice

When our trial is done
And imperfections, atoned
We become everything
And leave none
Alone

Last Orphan

Immersed in dark matter,
it fights not to hide

A target blood red,
and covered in lies

It cries out for justice,
it cries out in pain

Until an arrow strikes deeply,
truth firmly ingrained

Its point bringing light,
its shaft driving home

A message of hope,
into falsehood atoned

And deep in your memory,
a last orphan screams

Renamed in the vengeance
 —rebirthed in this dream

Last Orphan of the Truth

In the middle—the center,
  a bullseye did hide

Its heart bleeding red,
  to target the lies

It cried out for justice,
  it cried out in pain

Until an arrow struck deeply,
  truth firmly ingrained

Its point forced its power,
 its shaft driving home

A message of hope,
 into falsehood atoned

And deep in your memory,
  a last orphan screams

Renamed in the vengeance,
—rebirthed in this dream

Unconditional

I feel a shiver run down through me
From my head goose bumps to my toes
The Holy Ghost burns my body sweet
As throughout the Lord’s words echo love
And recognition unto remembrance
Of repentance and all those sins that have past
Gathered would have been heaped upon me
A pile of coal blackened black
But, it was my Savior
Who gave all the love that He hath
Forgave one as weak as I
As He atoned for my lack
And loved me more, than…
Unconditional, than could a mere man
