Standard bearer,
above the fray
Others follow,
trackless fields
Trailing echo’s,
dead and gone
Then tomorrow
—tomorrow then
(Villanova Pennsylvania: August, 2020)
If I am forced to relinquish ten things, these are the things I will abdicate:
Politics
Liver
Rat poison
Cars without chrome
Dirty windows
Housework
Mean people
Gossipers
Drug dealers
People who don’t like dogs
to assert or abdicate
we choose in patience to wait
trusting God to empower
in each node a bliss shower
dreams appear and disappear
there is in truth no one here
all that that is is a flame
which may be assigned no name
Button Size of Both Brains
A button is size of both of their brains,
And all they do is develop more disdain;
So stop activity;
Observe nativity;
From their thrones abdicate and abstain.

DELETE
I am writing my poem to delete
The clouds and the rain are going to be obsolete
Are you feeling incomplete or sensing complete
Let's abdicate immediately, resign toute de suite

If lack of love confronts you,
face him with love...
If he doesn't abdicate
don't surrender...
If he revolts,
treat him with
further love yet...
If none is worth it,
offer him truly and calmly,
with tenderness, the exit door... !
Can we abdicate
thoughts that agitate,
which shrivel our soul,
burning like hot coal?
To whom do thoughts come,
that veil God’s kingdom,
shrouding divine light,
making day like night?
In-dwelling this form,
invite bliss pulse warm
to throb in each pore,
whilst keeping no score!

Abdicate the throne born from thorns
We’ve borne trauma too long
Heed voice of conscience that so warns
Time’s now to sing love’s song
Shifting from ‘me’ to ‘we’
Holds our happiness key
In carefree, joyous spree
All attachments thrown
Abdicate the throne

Quietus
Summer's wearing saggy pants right now,
Tired and worn out with all the fun.
She's ready to take some time away,
And declare this season close to done....
She is the chosen queen of seasons,
And reigns with such warm delight.
But now she will abdicate her throne
To Fall, who's poems we have yet to write......

We stand outside, in heat or cold
And one by one, each class
Is marched outside to reunite
With we who wait, en masse.
The teachers watch to match each child
With parent, sitter or
A nana or a grandpa
Huddled near the exit door.
The children run to give a hug
To those who stand and wait,
The teachers glad their obligations
They can abdicate.
Unlike the first Revolution…
this time we have to take America
back from within
Like drug and alcohol addiction
we need detox
and rehabilitation
The traitors and despoilers left
to wither and die
Too many have sacrificed
for the freedoms we take for granted
to abdicate our responsibility
to the lunatic fringe
(Villanova Pennsylvania: June, 2022)
Elizabeth’s Throne
You still sit on England’s grand throne!
For sixty plus years crown you own!
Your subjects all wait—
Will you abdicate?
Will Charles make it to the King zone?

7:15 on a Sunday evening
Sparrows abdicate a sunny throne
Chattering Coyotes scan the field
Church doors are locked
The swirling scent of incense settles
Cold winds whistle ‘round the steeple
A lone bat hangs idle in the belfry
An old woman walks her dog
Stops to admire the majestic locked doors
Wonders why Sunday evening is so different
Than Sunday morning
If it's for the general well-being of poetry
I declare that I will remain a poet
even without honors and earnings...
If it's for the total well-being of humanity,
I will continue to be human, even if
compliments or awards never receive...
call me a fool poet,
dreamy... all in complete harmony,
I will not abdicate on being who I am...!
A fighter for peace and progress
of humanity and universal love!
Unveiled,
the moon will find you
after morose beginning
of becoming – me
Homophobia creeps in,
beyond the condemnation,
the incompleteness.
You walk straight in the arms
of contradiction, confusion
smearing the wall
with your crimson, nihilistic words.
Every other person
a demi – god
stands on your fears, sends whispers
down your ears.
To abdicate the colleagues
of dawn.

Form:
Meditate
Dive into your dream
Work to make it mainstream
Cultivate
Your heart and mind clear
Body and soul spark cheer
Dedicate
Your time and space well
Live passion where you dwell
Abdicate
Quit when you're ahead
Meet the fear that you dread
Congregate
Live love that blossoms
Be love that's most awesome
Predicate
Destiny aligns fate
Live here and now not late
