A Nature Themed Haiku Poetry Contest
I dream,
dream of rising;
but falling drags me back;
yet re-rising is my phoenix
green soul

october leaf that
clings to its branch no fear of
death but the falling
Cantankerous celibate husband
long time since male member did expand
overdosed viagra
bulge rivaled Niagara
exciting playboys in grandstand
Merry Christmas family and friends
Wishing you a festive holiday season
May your days be merry and bright
As you celebrate Christmas tonight.

Haiku
Much rain has caused floods,
Water sought its own level;
Nature, man can’t tame!
Christmas Eve just isn't the same
Sans Midnight Mass at the Notre Dame
With fires everywhere
Does God really care?
Is "Climate Change" really to blame?
Donald Trump approves Acid Rain
To nourish our farmland again
Public health gets the boot
As Dick Cheney yells, "Shoot!"
You know how Trump hates John McCain!
From Plymouth Rock to the Golden Gate
Old World religions have fostered hate
With no "brother" fuss
Just "them against us"
And still no sign their hate will abate
oak buds stimulate
the crevices of the mind —
hopped-up flowerage
adventurous vine —
the tongue-twisting succulent
of wildflower verse

Sound of fireworks
Notes of loud music
Repercute in the night
Waiting for a new year
Wishing to leave behind
Bittersweet moments
Embracing a new year
Promising a better outcome

World wide scare anew
Man-made virus spread over
Death on news pages
Ill mortality
Tough human evolution
Unacceptable
Fix immunity
Mass consciousness transcends fear
Only cure we had.

Canada Day is always a great celebration
Red and white everywhere celebrating our nation
152 years since birth
Of merriment and mirth
Canadian humor is world renowned since its formation
You,
It's you,
Always has been,
Maybe always will be,
Every other thought is you,
I can't even escape with dreams,
Will it ever be over,
This torture you bring,
Leaving only pain,
All because,
You.

Mom, can I go out?
No! Our city is on fire!
See the flames, my dear?

we wake to grayness
flash flood warnings
and mud slides on the news
constant rain pelting on roofs
small lakes and ponds in yards
drainpipes pulsing and gushing
evacuation a rare but possibility
